The folks engaging in these plots need SEVERE and IRREVERSIBLE consequences to deter this conduct in the future. It the pain isn’t enough they’ll just try it again, and probably learn from their mistakes.

Hundreds of Congresspeople were involved in a coup attempt in 2020.

None have faced any consequences whatsoever.

This clearly has emboldened the current administration to ramp up efforts to further undermine the already compromised and unfair elections.

Joel Kaplan served in the Whitehouse and then was instantly hired by Zuckerberg to “engender ties to conservatives” right as Obama took office.

Kaplan is one of the people who drove 2020, by exempting right wing disinfo sites from Facebook’s news truthfulness standards, and by putting his thumb on the scales of the algorithm to promote right-wing content.

And Bush’s lead attorney in the recount battle was a well-connected young Republican lawyer named John Roberts.

Within only five years of the Brooks Brothers Riot, and with less than two years of experience on the bench as a judge, he was made CHIEF Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

O’Connor was retiring anyway, and Rehnquist was already sick, but these days I often wonder if Rehnquist wasn’t given a tiny push in the same quiet way George V had been sixty years earlier, because goddamn was that some convenient timing.

From mere attorney to Chief Justice of SCOTUS in only five years. Imagine that. “Rewarded” indeed.

Unfortunately merely “behind bars” isn’t enough as it can be undone with the stroke of a pen by a corrupt President. They need to be incapacitated in some manner that even that can’t bring them back.

Or else the Supreme Court can read that corrupt pardons are inherently void by the nature of the Constitution and order all of the Jan 6’ers locked back up, and the pardon buyers’ prison sentences and restriction back on. If they do that, the permanence required can be commuted to life in prison.

This can’t be only “we learn from this to stop the next guys.” It needs to be that, plus THESE criminal fuckers pay appropriately too.

I finished up Blockers and while I wish it was longer and I wanted more on Vought, but holy shit, you’ll come out of that book realizing Vought is an even bigger piece of shit than you may have thought before.

That little shithead is a monster. They have the highlights in the link below, but reading about the people behind that research and how Vought is most likely the one that fired him is just…ugh.

Something is just deeply wrong with conservatives. They have broken brains. It’s rather interesting that these assholes claim “liberalism is a mental disorder” but of all the projection they do, that is some of the most projecting to say that.

I wonder what his own daughter may say about her own father if/when she comes to realize who and what he is.

One thing to remember about the Alaska thing is that it has already been adjucated on the State level. It was challenged and the state courts allowed it to proceed. The only new information might be who was involved in recruiting him.

But, taken as a large pattern, Federal officials do seem to be trying to intimidate State elections officials. They are sending these lists at the last possible minute, which State officials are ignoring because they are inaccurate. After the election, we will see the Feds put even more pressure on these State officials, with the same manufactured “proof”. This Alaska thing is a minor footnote compared to what is going on in other states.

That is what needs to be prosecuted immediately. The Federal officials responsible for pushing these fake lists need to be hauled into State court, and we need to find out where these lists came from. If they came from Grok, we need to haul Musk into court as well.

(Notice how, to my knowledge, they haven’t fucked around with sending letters to NY yet. I thunk they are legit afraid of the NY AG, because of what she was able to pin on Trump before voters let him off the hook for any punishment)

The media constantly adds -gate to anything, even total nothingburgers (anyone remember the right trying to take down Clinton with Filegate and Travelgate and Troopergate?), but remember the Brooks Brothers riot? How about Iran/Contra?

Those ended up as blips essentially, and the conservatives never ever paid the full cost - or basically paid no cost - for any of those. So of course they amped up to J6, and even got away with it.

That would be very bad for any future vote prospects for them. I personally will “give” them votes one last time, in 2028, to get us out of this. However, if they fail to capitalize on it and deal out appropriate consequences BY 2030 I’ll never do it again. They blew their chance in 2021; they fuck up this bad twice and it’s done.

No, I don’t care if they “don’t have the numbers”, or “have a Fetterman problem”. They fucked up the layup, now they can figure out how to get out of it.

And I’m fairly certain I’m far from the only person who feels this way. Dems have a choice; hopefully these new progressives have help them make the right one.

Not only do they have this, but they also have Fetterman, who will probably be promised whatever committee chairmanship he wants to switch parties if Republicans are only one seat away. With Vance’s tiebreaker vote, Democrats need to get 53 seats to be guaranteed to hold a majority.

But, Democrats have an advantage if things get ugly. Only 35 of 100 Senators are up for reeelection, and of the 65 remaining, Democrats have a 3 seat advantage, which is large enough to withstand being Fettermaned. If Republicans do weird shit regarding slow-rolling certifications at the State level, Chuck could refuse to seat any new Senators until all elections are certified. Does Chuck have the balls to do that?

Just keep in mind that what they may be “planning” is Plan-R because they’ve burned thought plans a-q with their incompetence. If America ever recovers from it’s fascist experiment, it’ll be because we chose the dumbest Nazi alive to lead it.

    1. The dems that were intentionally trying to confused Republican voters were scummy.
    2. The Republicans are half mad at the audacity (and because they think their electorate is stupid enough that it might work), and half mad that they didn’t think of it first.
    3. There is no way in hell that anyone with any amount of sense will actually be confused by the ballot come election day. The incumbent is very clearly marked as such and they have had a long time to get the message out to look out for the similar names. It is no secret.
    4. Trump can and will do anything at all to make sure that the will of the people is the last thing considered when it comes to elections. This is a somewhat easier fight due to the Dem’s deliberate intent, but this will not be the only point of suit you will see over the next few months before the new congress is sworn in.
    5. Also, you simply cannot bar someone from running for having a similar name to another candidate or invalidate the election results only if you lose. That is asinine.
