U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning for the military to sever all ties with Scouting America, saying the group once known as the Boy Scouts is no longer a meritocracy and has become an organization designed to “attack boy-friendly spaces,” according to documents reviewed by NPR.

In a draft memo to Congress, which sources shared with NPR but which has not yet been sent, Hegseth criticizes Scouting for being “genderless” and for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.

The military has provided support to the Scouts for more than 100 years, assistance that was formalized in 1937. But in one memo, Hegseth says, “The organization once endorsed by President Theodore Roosevelt no longer supports the future of American boys.”

My kids were in the first trials of adding girls to scouts, and I got to talk to one of the older boys about it.

He said “the way I see it, I’m gonna have to work with women in the real world, so it’s good to learn that now.”

Unfortunately my kids couldn’t continue because we moved and the local troops weren’t integrated.

He’s mad they let girls in now. What a jackass.

I saw some girls I thought were selling Girl Scout cookies not too long ago, and was initially disappointed that they were actually in the organization previously called the Boy Scouts and were selling that nasty popcorn instead. But that was beat out by how cool it was seeing girls in the scouts.

Not cool enough to spend money on the popcorn tho. They really outta find something new to sell for fundraising. It sucked when I was a scout, too.

Banning Scout troops from meeting on military bases in the U.S. and overseas troubles Kenny Grant. He’s a retired Army Staff Sergeant who served as a sniper in Iraq and is the parent of three Scouts — two girls and a boy.

"It’s gonna be kind of harsh the way I say this… It’s kind of like they don’t care about us more than they care about their perceived message.

You hit the nail on the head, Mr. Grant.

America has the only segregated scout program in the world.

I learned this at an international scouting event.

    Bit awkward.

It’s just sad. Condensing all the anger of all the weak, petty people in the country into a ball of vitriol and entitled spite and unleashing it on the world.
A government that embodies the emotional energy of a school shooter. Such a shamefully American situation to put ourselves in.

Attacking the scouts for finally saying that anyone is allowed to learn knots is pathetic even by their standards.
