I don’t understand why these butthurt republicans don’t just start voting against trump. Like somehow the only options are toe the party line or resign.

Because apart from Trump, they want to toe the party line.

If a few Republican House members resign then the Democrats take the majority. Democrats can take out Trump and do whatever else they want to help people. Meanwhile the former House members can sit on the sidelines and blame Democrats (specifically for non-Trump things).

But what about the Senate? Basically the hope is that everyone will forget what you’ve done. Look at the recent shutdown bill, the Senate Democrats who gave up everything aren’t up for reelection anytime soon. That thing they did 5 years ago? I don’t really remember what that was about.

People w/o spines don’t just grow them like Chia Pets. If they don’t have the guts to fight, they need to go. Even if they opposed one item — that wouldn’t be it. Democracy won’t survive silence.

Fairly sure this was predicted months ago, with the triggering event being the recent elections that were swept by the dems. The prediction was basically that if it looked like they were going to lose control of any of the houses, there’d be a ton of people trying to put distance between themselves and the govt as there’s a higher likelihood they’ll get prosecuted for crimes. So the early resignations, and attempts to “apologize” are mostly just about trying to avoid accountability for their actions – rats fleeing a sinking ship.

These days, every time I hear good news I think, “How am I being played on this?” There is always a catch, it’s fake, or it’s a bold-faced lie. There just isn’t good news anymore.

“This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL. And Mike Johnson has let it happen because he wanted it to happen,” they told Punchbowl.

“That is the sentiment of nearly all—appropriators, authorizers, hawks, doves, rank and file,” the lawmaker said.

He blasted what he called “the arrogance of this White House team,” accusing them of running members “roughshod and threatened” while denying them even “little wins like announcing small grants or even responding from agencies.”

    Oh no! Anyway . . .

Doesn’t that just open up the seats to more radical players? They become appointments by the local governor and that could lead to more divisive people moving in. MTG is an outlier on the division scale, but I’m certain there are more principled republicans that will be replaced with howler monkeys similar to MTG.

Or it could mean more sensible entrants too, based on their position. Hopefully the voters wake up and realize it’s not ok to sit it out.

It’s not just members of the House. They treat everyone like garbage. They’re narcissists who don’t give a shit about anyone else.

“Morale has never been lower,” the senior lawmaker said.

With any resemblance of morals thrown out of the window long ago, this is only fitting.

Any Republican going is a chance for the American people to fix the current situation.

Absolutely. His ego could not accept the loss so he decided to make it his idea, ignoring that he has the power to unilaterally release the files without a law from congress.

But, if there were so many angry Republicans, as the article suggests, their anger is not resulting in a change in behavior and is effectively useless. Even MTG has made her frustrations moot by resigning instead of standing against Trump.

MTG is distancing herself for a presidential run. She cut all direct criticism of Trump at the same time she started sounding like Kamala - she’s got so many consultants up her ass

She resigned for the same reason so many others are considering it… It’s a really bad time to be in office. Being an incumbent right now is not a good look

Republicans haven’t fallen in line with Trump over ideology… They have no ideology. They just want to be reelected, and right now it’s looking like Trump is a sinking ship. It’s becoming very clear it’s been Trump and their career, and only a few (like Mike Johnson for reasons I don’t understand) are willing to double down on Trump after the election results
