We’re fucked. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, medical research, public education. It’s all not going to exist.

I don’t even understand why the boomers want this shit gone — so many of them rely on Medicare and SSI entirely. They all claim that because they ‘paid into it their whole lives’ that they are due a disbursement. But like usual, boomers are concerned about theirs; none of us who have been working for almost 20 years at this point will receive the same benefit.

A boomer would eat a shit sandwhich if it meant that those after them had to smell their breath.

They don’t want it gone. They don’t believe their team will actually hurt them. Despite many years of the GOP promising to do it.

Honestly, I’m in the EU and I fully expect the same thing to happen here, just more gradually than in the US. I will never be able to get out of social security what I’ve been forced to put in my entire life. And that would be okay if it meant it went to people who actually needed it…

It certainly does feel like a worldwide phenomenon, doesn’t it? Hopefully that means there is a worldwide ‘awakening from a bad dream’, too.

They genuinely believe the US is filled with millions of evil, lazy people on welfare who don’t work and play videogames all day and collect $50,000/year in benefits…

Meanwhile you have billionaires like Elon Musk who pays people to play videogames all day for him, and they don’t bat a fucking eyelash… (I mean, by no means the worst thing musk does, but you get my point)

It’s so insanely removed from reality

Nobody in that coalition wants to think about their shit real life pulling in social security and living in a ticky tacky detached shitbox off a stroad in a suburb; they all envision themselves as temporarily inconvenienced mega millionaires whose biggest problem would be the capital gains tax rate if only those dang immigrants, brown people, women, and purple-haired hippies would stop repressing them. It’s e the American way!

Boomers? I see lots of people of all ages voting Republican, so I don’t think any of this is confined to just one age demographic…

Frankly, at this point, I want them to get $0 checks and realize they fucked up as they lay dying. My last fuck for those people went out the window a long fucking time ago. Congrats, they got exactly what they fuck they voted for. Now go run off and die and let us start rebuilding without the societal anchors they are.

Honestly the only hope I have is that once the Trump clique breaks everything down and the are ousted the American people can get together and remake everything, maybe even better than it was. They did it once before.

Though I’m afraid that will only happen when the people reach a breaking point and that will lead to a lot of violence. Make sure to prepare for the worst and stay safe out there.

Well, on the bright side, this is going to get lot more people out into the streets, and protests are already bigger than they’ve ever been.

I’m holding hope that the MAGA destruction hits so hard that the pendulum is forced to aggressively swing back in the other direction.

That was my hope after bush 2, then again after first trump term. Then the country provided republicons every lever of power as a reward. I’m not holding my breath of anything swinging anywhere.

We need more people daily who are protesting and making connections. Then with connections made to get things done. Everyone can focus on different issues to overhaul all of this. Run For Something, Marc Elias are good examples on Bluesky on what we need more of
