This is the point that will be referenced in history books as the beginning of the second civil war.

As if Americans won’t roll over and accept this as normal just as they have for every other batshit betrayal of their principles that’s taken place this century.

John Brown has been on my mind a lot, truly one of the greatest Americans to live, and he aptly said after Harper’s Ferry “I am quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think vainly, flattered myself that without very much bloodshed it might be done.”

Don’t forget that Donny’s having a birthday military parade coming up. We need to show up and sound off. If he wants America to be great we need to show how great we are against him and this regime.

    18 U.S. Code § 2381

“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

We need to bring back of some of this “law and order”, there’s a traitor right there within the executive branch.

We cannot be silent in the face of Trump’s dictatorial move. Silence is acquiescence. We must be brave in resisting him. But we must not succumb to violence.

What is needed is peaceful civil disobedience. Americans locking arms to protect those who need protection. Americans sitting in the way of armored cars. Americans singing and chanting in the face of the Americans whom Trump is drafting into his handmade civil war.

Because peaceful civil disobedience definitely wont be met by force with 0 repercussions

I honestly do not believe anything short of violent revolt will achieve any results. I am happy to be proven wrong as someone who isn’t really keen on that, but I just don’t see it.

    No troops have been deployed.

“Trump wants to deploy troops to look tough” is a better headline.

Trump signed a memo late yesterday ordering 2,000 members of the National Guard to be deployed in Los Angeles County after federal immigration agents in riot gear squared off with hundreds of protesters for a second consecutive day

      Life isn’t instant.

He ordered it, if it doesn’t happen it’s because someone in the chain of command is disobeyi g orders.

Not saying that’s a bad thing, or that it’ll happen.

But he has 100% ordered troop to be deployed and it’s actively in process. The headline is 100% correct

It’s not clear that he has the authority to order it, especially over the objection of the state governor. https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/presidents-power-call-out-national-guard-not-blank-check is from 2024, largely about when Trump 1 ordered National Guard to DC, and why it’s different in states.

TL; DR: National Guard is a state organization; if the President federalizes it, then it becomes subject to posse commitatus, same as the Army.

Yeah and the courts can argue about that while it happens. That’s been his whole deal. Do whatever he wants and maybe someone will say “hey that’s illegal” but by that point it’s too late.

You mean “it’s clear that he does not have the authority to order it.” Anything short of that helps normalize Trump’s fascist lawlessness.

if the President federalizes it, then it becomes subject to posse commitatus, same as the Army.

Which has happened before. Against Biden’s wishes at the time, it was done to enforce school desegregation in the south.

Like, trump tries to pull lots of unprecedented shit, but this is precedented.

It all depends on how Newsome handles it. And Newsome is a pretty big piece of shit.

Next election for Cali gov is 2026 at least, this will push them away from neoliberals and towards a progressive willing to fight.

We’re well past the point shit gets fixed quickly, doesn’t mean stop fighting, just get your expectations straight.

NYT has some video of some troops guarding the “Metropolitan Detention Center”, so we have proof of at least the seven troops pictured.
