He’ll push back just so and contradict Trump a little bit, just enough to make it clear that he is not completely devoid of sense or sanity, but when push comes to shove he’ll fall in line. The fact that he does seem to comprehend how disastrous everything Trump does is makes the fact he eventually goes along with it more egregious than if he were just another empty suit going along with the cult.
