    The real doom loop:

    1. “Hey maybe we should try voting and boycotting companies?”
    2. “That will never work only violence works!”
    3. Some mentally unwell person shoots some people
    4. More fascist stuff is done as a response
    5. Go back to step 1

The revolutionary LARPers are in a symbiotic relationship with the fascists they clam to oppose.

Project 2025 never though their would be violence. Their plan was the next civil war would be bloodless and so far they are right. Maybe at some point they well go too far but who knows well be interesting to see at least.

Let’s be real though, the military right now would have no problem mowing down anyone giving a hint of pushback. They already have, look at Alex Pretti and Renee Good. It’s part of their “liberal tears” shtick.

Minnesota is the perfect example on how to do it. They did a fantastic job. They still lost too many.

I think my favorite was when Twitter showed country of origin and a lot of the “don’t vote, it doesn’t matter” people strangely were not from the US. Very curious. I’m extremely wary of astroturfing now.

In my observation: many Americans are resisting. The ones that are, even nonviolently are not cowards by any measure.

The ones that are continuing to support neoliberalism are weak. Revolution can’t happen if they continue to obey their programming.

Hello, I’m one of these people.

It’s not that dubious. Either Americans find the bravery, strength, courage and determination we all once tought was basic yank DNA inherent in their grandfathers and great grandfathers, and overthrow the corpo billionaire mob in the White House, House & Senate and Supreme Court, or - and this is where it gets selfish

Wait another few years to be liberated by a bunch of weird talking, second guessing wusses from shithole countries to come and do the liberation for you.

That’s the only loop I’m seeing, so you’re welcome for the encouragement.

The time to go to Ed Sheeran concerts, watch the superbowl and make a black friday shopping list is over, you’re under siege and you’re not acting like it. (Tbf, that last part goes for Europe too)

E: Sorry pele, I didn’t see you were the OP, but we established this disagreement before

I’m sorry you’re feeling so down about it.

I did say in a couple of years. And you underestimate the impossible capacity of joint human willpower when we are put with our backs against the wall.

Many in Europe in the early 40’s would have echoed your sentiment if not said it word for word. It was because of contrarian optimists the dam eventually broke, not to mention the natural cycle of totalitarianism, when the total lunatic in charge eventually overcommits their armed forces.

Do not confuse the lack of allegiance to your Orange Pedophile with a lack of care about your people. You may be right that the time for a revolution is past you, but you’re not right to give up. When the time comes, many new alliances will form and come to your aid as you once did for us.

It would only give the powers in charge to excuse they need to crack down hard and openly seize more power.

They’re doing it whether you fight back or not.

ICE fucked off out of Minnesota after they got enough pushback to be uncomfortable for them. And, yes, there were horrible sacrifices made, but in the end, the ICEholes left.

Countries never want to act and when they do it is to late. Like now the West should have diversified from America a decade ago but they well just ride this out and nothing well really change.

Pacifism is worthless, your alternative solutions are worthless, when someone else eventually does the fighting for you you’re going to lie through your teeth and pretend you were behind them the whole time.

I sometimes think that violence is seen as the easier answer. It is short term thinking, a big risk for an immediate possible reward versus a brutally long marathon of effort needed to enact real change non-violently. Statistically the long slog is the correct choice though.

You cannot keep fighting if you are dead from a violent act, but if you get up and apply pressure everyday it will add up. Be a warrior of great and enduring patience. Get up when you fail and try again. Learn and live a long time. And other words of motivation that are written on white ladies kitchen walls.

Sure but peaceful protest barley works. Even the people who notices the 3.5% of population do sustained protests. Noticed it is working less as time goes on.

Most of them. At the very least, Vietnam. Would they be better off still under a colonial system?

That doesn’t necessarily mean revolution is suited to the present conditions. I just find this idea that revolutions never accomplish anything to be bafflingly ahistorical.

Revolutions accomplish things, but the old problems creep back in because we are humans and we can’t not fuck things up.

For example, Russia used to be ruled by one person, propped up by wealthy elites. It still is, but it used to be too.

Yes, but I know that revolutions are not necessary for life, and hold no expectations that large groups of people will ever act rationally

Frankly I think that most of what you’re talking about isn’t really relevant. The question of whether revolutions produce positive or negative results is a political and historical one. Musings on the human condition, feelings of hopelessness and despair, cynicism, those are just reflections of your mental state, and is shit for you to work out. It’s not a reflection of reality.

When we actually study history, and look at facts and evidence, comparing before and after, then it’s clear that revolutions do have the capacity to improve things, at least in certain conditions. It doesn’t have to be a necessary part of life, that’s not really the question. Why go through life limiting yourself to only what is necessary?

Will things get worse again a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand years from now? While Vietnam is still better off today than it would’ve been otherwise, it’s true that at a certain point, the sun will explode. But why is that an argument for not doing something as opposed to doing something? If everything blows up in our faces and we make a whole mess of things, that mess, too, will be temporary and will pass.

Regardless, even if life is destined to be nothing but suffering for all eternity, it is still human nature to strive against that, and if it’s all hopeless anyway then there’s no harm in trying shit.

As I said, you strive against hunger by eating, even knowing that it won’t last. So why is it that I shouldn’t strive against oppression, just because it may not last?

You can tell what kind of people are talking about this shit on this site by the fact that you guys keep pretending that US resistance fighters aren’t incredibly durable and relentless. People have fought this regime harder and longer than any European countries did. You people think people haven’t tried? You think the US has fucking militarized police just because?
