New members that want to run should be running on reversing citizens United and reversing everything this guy has done. And charged all ice agents for terrorism.

Forget charging ICE agents with terrorism. We need to rendition ICE agents to the countries of their victims. The US justice system cannot be trusted to hold ICE agents accountable for their crimes against humanity. SCOTUS is corrupt and not a legitimate court. So let’s send ICE agents to where they will be held accountable. All those ICE agents that sent innocent Venezuelan citizens to a torture camp in El Salvador? They should all be rounded up and sent to Venezuela to face justice for their crimes against Venezuelan citizens.

Once you realize that the dem party doesn’t actually want to make any real changes, then you stop being surprised and confused about this.

“Americans voted to give total control of all branches of the government to Republicans.”

    -its the Democrats fault.

Can’t do anything because republicans might yell at them. If that fails, the senate parliamentarian won’t let them. Otherwise, simply have other priorities (cashing donor checks).

No it’s their fault for not holding trump accountable for insurrection. They were too scared of looking political so they just let him get away with crimes. Now he is back. He should have been in prison or under a cross in some dirt like 5 years ago.

That’s a fair criticism. But the article doesn’t mention anything about their past failure. It’s about what Democrats are doing now. The quotes imply Americans do not understand their own government. “The current Democrat response is scattershot” Americans gave every branch of the government to Republicans. Democrats can’t save them now. Americans did it to themselves.

When a populace is so disillusioned with one party that they choose to hand total control over to the other party, would you not conclude that the first party failed to appeal to the populace? Is it not the responsibility of the party to convince the populace to vote for them?

Many people on the left seem to think the Democrats are entitled to votes because of how terrible Republican politics are. This has even been the foundation of the Democrats’ campaign against Trump over the last decade, “vote for Dems because Trump is bad”. A strategy with a success rate of 1-in-3, which would have been 0-in-3 if there hadn’t been a once-in-a-century global pandemic to help bring gravity to the Dems’ messaging at the perfect time, and even then they barely eeked out a win.

But the choice wasn’t between left and far left. It was between centrist and far right. People voted for far right.

The majority want right wing policies. It’s horrible but that is reality.

People who said, “I was going to vote for Harris but she wasn’t left enough.” were never genuine. Because it wasn’t Harris vs Sanders. It was Harris vs Trump.

"Many people on the left seem to think the Democrats are entitled to votes because of how terrible Republican politics are. "

When the alternative was Trump they are entitled to your vote! It seems like you wanted Trump to “punish” Democrats for not being left enough. But that didn’t work because the majority wanted Trump.

Harris could have promised to kiss Bezos’s feet and anyone remotely antifa should have still voted for her.

The majority aren’t paying enough attention to distinguish left from right policies. They couldn’t define fascism, let alone recognize the Right’s propensity towards it. They voted for change, for a relief from the status quo that is cannibalizing the middle class. Trump promised them the moon while the Democrats told us the status quo is working, “We have the best economy in the world”, and the Harris administration is effectively going to be a continuation of Biden’s agenda.

You can blame the majority for being so woefully uneducated or you can accept that they are and recognize that the Dems need to offer something other than good intentions in the form of gutted legislation that pleases their donors and goes widely unnoticed by the general public.

That applied in 2016 but not 2020. They didn’t vote for change because Trump had already been President. They wanted more Trump.

To be “effective” would be against the interests of their wealthy benefactors. The Democratic Party does not exist to “win”, they exist to attract and neutralize progressive movements and make sure that the Overton Window never moves left, that discussion about raising the FICA cap, for example, are “heard”, but never, NEVER implemented. They are there to STOP you. It’s called a “Honey Trap”. The “Ratchet Effect” is also a relevant term.

Remarkably apt for people who vote for a weak and ineffective political party, but maybe a little too on the nose considering the perennial nature of these grievances? It’s a little like saying that the moronic shit-eaters who idolize politicians that spit in their faces are dissatisfied with the Republican party because of the tariffs’ disastrous impact on already high inflation/ICE deporting their Latino wife/their nephew dying because he couldn’t afford his insulin, etc. The two party dynamic overall, their internal dynamics, and the doltish domestic/foreign policies of American politics have been such shit for so long that it’s like commenting that people who live in monsoon zones are unhappy with the excessive rainfall that swept everything they own into a river & killed their entire neighbour’s family - it happened four years ago, it’s going to happen again in four years, nothing will change.
