Absolutely agreed. This shutdown was inevitable and a savvy messenger would have been preparing the public for it for months already. Every day reminding the public that MAGA doesn’t have a plan and only wants power to enrich themselves and their corrupt billionaire regime. Instead they seem to have an absolutely moronic view that ‘actions speak louder than words’ which was never true, and even less true in today’s media environment. Meanwhile MAGA understands and is running laps around them with messaging. Schumer and Jeffries need to step aside NOW and get someone who knows how to communicate in charge.

Of course, and yet SOME effort from the Dems would not go unnoticed. Politics today is so overwhelmingly based on vibes today and to not try to influence that is political malpractice.

The Democrats messaging, as always, has been abysmal on this. They should have been hitting the airwaves since the last vote preparing public for this to happen and - rightly - putting the responsibility on the GOP who owns both sides of congress and the presidency.

The right-wing playbook in action. It’s really interesting (and evil) how their rhetoric evolved to take advantage of the weaknesses of modern liberalism. The reason we shouldn’t accept their speech into just any space is because, pardon my French: it isn’t on the fucking level. They’re not trying to win a rational debate. They’re just trying to win, through whatever means necessary including exaggerating, lying, and bullshitting.

I am probably preaching to the choir here but if any of y’all haven’t gone through it, the whole right-wing playbook series on Youtube is pretty much mandatory viewing at this point and definitely made me abandon my ‘we should debate them in the marketplace of ideas’ stance.

She’s also the ‘true believer’ kind of crazy. Since she comes from the Q-anon branch of the MAGA cult, that could absolutely put her at odds with Trump if she no longer sees him as a protected part of that belief system.
