I’m sure you’ll be fine and it’ll be even better when the system is rewritten in a month, you won’t be lost or declared dead.

Just sit back and enjoy what you voted for.

OK had 66.2% vote for Trump. Idaho, North Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming were all higher than that.

So what do you mean by “only state” and “100%”? I’m confused by your comment.

A lot of people don’t get how to parse statistical data, 67% of all votes isn’t out of 100% of people is out of voter turn out, voter turn out isn’t a % if all people is a % of registered voters, registered voters is out of eligible voters. So take 100% of the pop, minus those that can’t legally vote, minus unregistered voters, minus registered who didn’t vote, Then 67% of that number, which is going to be no where near 67% of the population at all.

So they apparently had 53% turn out of 2.4 million register voters, which is 1.27 million, out of a state population total of 4 million, which is 31% of the total pop. So 850,900 people voted for Trump a whopping 21.27% of the states total pop.

So not ALL by any stretch, and they had the worst registered voter turn out in the nation according to the reporting I’m seeing.

Also for no reason 18% of registered voters is 432,000 people, 10.57% of total pop, that’s the number of people you’d have to swing to have flipped the state

He said he wouldn’t do Project 2025 and so people trusted the word of a guy convicted of 34 counts of fraud because he said that he was being treated unfairly by the justice system.

        I dunno… people are dumb.

The guy that picked, as his VP, the guy who wrote the forward for a book from the architect of Project 2025.

But before the election, you’d try to tell some people about Project 2025, and they would take a “but isn’t that conspiracy theory” type of approach. And that’s people that were not necessarily hardcore magoffs. The magoffs were entirely unreachable on the subject…

One of the few campaign promises he actually kept. But yes, it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that this administration would gut social security. So you get what you deserve.

The people I feel bad for are the minority of voters who actually saw this coming and didn’t vote for him. They are stuck in this horrible situation because of all the stupid dipshits who are getting their faces eaten by leopards right now.

I’m less worried about the closure of offices than Musk thinking he can modernize the SSA administration’s computer systems in 3 months. None of his lackeys have ever worked on anything of this scale/complexity and I’m pretty sure none of them know COBOL since they’re apparently mostly around 25. (And retired COBOL experts likely don’t know more modern languages well enough to translate.)

Don’t get me wrong, the public and private sectors should modernize aging, critical systems that use code written in languages almost no one under 60 has learned, much less mastered. But 3 months probably isn’t even enough time to get through the planning and hiring stage of a project like this. If it were cheap and easy to update those systems, it’d have been done already.

Even if you had the very best experts that knew COBOL and some “modern” language, along with all the right competent supporting staff (documentation, analysts, qa, ops) AND they had skilled, experienced and competent management overseeing it, doing something like that in months is just probably very, very difficult, if not impossible.

If you look back over the respected literature (which means sidestep the hot-take Youtube techfluencers going gaga over rather pedestrian things in languages and tools and frameworks and so on - these dingalings are typically so far up their own rear-ends and likely to just make the same old mistakes already documented in books like Mythical Man-Month and many probably won’t read it because they think it’s about older systems, therefore irrelevant.) I doubt you’d find much support for a claim that it could be done.

Republicans back in the day: Social Security is going to collapse! We need to fix it. Not enough money for Americans when they retire.

Republicans now: Fuck Social Security! The Billionaires told us to collapse it. They informed us we don’t need it.

It’ll end up somehow being blamed on Dems. Remembering the time Congress overrode Obama’s JASTA veto, then the GOP immediately blamed Obama for not warning them harder.

Well well well, if that isn’t the consequences of your choices coming around to bite you in the ass. I am well aware that the individuals suffering are not individually to be blamed but I have zero sympathy in this particular case.
