House Judiciary Committee Democrats on Monday released an unsigned staff report laying out what they call “the case against Donald Trump emerging in the Epstein Files and DOJ’s desperate efforts to cover it up,” with those Democrats now calling for an independent special counsel to investigate the president as well as what they describe as Attorney General Todd Blanche’s conflicts of interest and the Justice Department’s reluctance to share relevant evidence with state and foreign law enforcement.

“The women who survived Epstein deserve to be heard,” the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said in a statement. “Congress must have the complete files required by law, and an independent special counsel must investigate Epstein’s co-conspirators and DOJ’s cover-up and ensure that state and foreign prosecutors have the evidence they need to pursue justice.”

The more than 50-page report alleges that Trump was “an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of young women in the mid-to-late 1990s.” Although it also contains at least one entirely new allegation against the president, it provides no direct evidence other than the woman’s own conversations with Judiciary Committee staff.

He raped children, but the cult doesn’t care. They like rapding children as evidenced by how many Republicans and church people keep getting caught raping children.

Does anybody remember the trend of “dead baby jokes” in the mid to late 90’s?

“What’s the difference between a cheeseburger and a dead baby? I dont fuck a cheeseburger before i eat it.”

Kinda wondering if all this epstein stuff might have a role in it somehow. Like, these were things that happened on the island and these “jokes” were a way to openly brag about it or something. Or maybe my small hick hometown was just really messed up.

I think you are reading into things a bit, though that’s not to say that some utterly heinous shit didn’t happen on the island, just that dark humour isn’t a new thing and that just happened to be the trend at the time.

That’s probably what’s happening. Idk why but reading about the epstein shit again, one person asking “can we get their parents in the room next time to see if they suck harder” it just reminded me of those dead baby jokes.

I grew up in a very rural area and what passed for comedy there usually was…very suboptimal, I’d say. At least before we started hearing tapes/records of the comedy giants (Steve Martin, Carlin, Murphy, Pryor, etc.) and lots of people trying to recount those routines to each other.

I seem to remember there were tasteless joke books going around in the 80s, and they definitely included dead baby jokes.

After searching a bit, it seems the jokes go back to at least the 1960s…

Which isn’t a bad thing. There’s a process. The problem here is not that a process failed. It’s that it wasn’t followed at all.

Yes, but that is a political question for the voter, Congress, and/or future juror to see resolved; not the publisher. So, to save themselves the expense of litigation, they go with alleged. Much cheaper too add one word than it is to be sued.

That weighs against him, but not engaging in litigation doesn’t inherently mean its worth the publisher to assume the risk of expense. There’s a saying like “We, the members of the jury, find” that tRump raped those people, a news organization won’t assume the risk to expense—especially since the corporation has a fiduciary obligation to maximize the return to their owners.

Fun fact: Epstein was friends with many, many Democrats, it’s not a “Republican only” problem. Where’s that caring?

The Democrats can always release the Epstein files, nobody is stopping them but them. Why are they colluding with Republicans to keep this sealed? When will they do the right thing? Will they ever?

Agreed, they should all be prosecuted.

This is over ten years now. Only the most misinformed would claim that this is a Republican-only cover up. Is this a Lemmy thing?

If you get your news from Lemmy alone, good Lord you have no idea what is going on.

Indeed, Epstein had friends with BoTh SiDeS, you finally get it! Good job

Did you know that Bill Clinton was a Democrat?

        Alan Dershowitz?

        Bill Gates?

His coworkers at Harvard, which is 99% Democrat?

I wasn’t talking just about Epstein. There are many many examples of Republicans raping children. In fact, Republican states keep trying to lower the age of marriage to get around child rape laws, with Texas allowing marriage as young as 14.

Note, California doesn’t have an age of marriage, but California relies on the common law’s rules related to minors and contracts.
