To be totally transparent, SERIOUSLY, THIS Is NOT A JOKE OR SOME KIND OF WORD TRICKERY OR CONSPIRACY, WITH NO CLAIMS MADE OF A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE OR EXCLUSIVITY OF POLICIES.

Kamala Harris targeted Republican women for a good portion of her campaign, and dropped a lot of the very popular Democratic platform, resulting in millions of Democrats sitting this one out.

Do you think this is because they are stupid? Why would they do this if not to take a knee? And I still thought that Trump would lose, I couldn’t believe that he would be re-elected. I’m never cynical enough.

Imagine if she ran on a $15 an hour minimum wage increase, helping many millions of our poorest Americans, with over 60% voter support (not Democrat). Our consumer economy would get millions of new consumers participating.

Ds and Rs are now 30% each, independents are 40% of the voters. Both parties know that they cannot win without a majorly popular independent issue. Why was this ignored?

Oh, almost forget, yes, I know, BoTh SiDeS and so on.

This and much more is why I despised GWB, but Trump has somehow managed to be exponentially worse.

Somehow, we went for a couple centuries with no ICE, but we just couldn’t get supersonic jets to respond to two subsonic passenger jets in spite of years of warning.

Sounds like we should have bought more city air defenses instead of ICE, don’t we have missiles to shoot down planes to protect our largest cities? Seriously, isn’t that pretty basic? Am I stupid?

I used to think GWB would be the worst President of my lifetime.

Now, I fondly remember GWBs fumbling in comparison.

With international banking freely printing money in much of the world (debt and taxation via inflation), I’m guessing we will have more and more frequent boom/bust cycles followed by a massive rug pull that will finally break the system’s back, death by banking.

Then China will run the show for our lifetimes, which means we’ll finally get fast rail.

Hmmm, I wonder if Trump will use executive orders to circumvent congress completely, and the Supremes will back him up per Bezos instructions?

Nah, that’s crazy, I’m just paranoid.

p.s. Senate will continue ignoring actual law and insist on following Senate rules (not law; can be changed at any time with simple majority vote) per cloture to avoid the “filibuster”; this blatantly unconstitutional “rule” was magically created to prevent another New Deal

I was not familiar with term, apologies, after looking it up I think a Nordic state or three practice this (unions+government) and avoid the entire “minimum wage” issue. It seems to work very well, and for decades.

That’s what we should emulate, a solid system that employs proven methods of increasing lifespan and standard of living. If something else comes along that is even better, do that.

Our 50 states with “states rights” would be a perfect platform for this adaptability and to try different competing systems, but we are going in the opposite direction.

I worry if unions were to become that powerful, they would just take the place of ownership. However, you can’t argue with the results, higher wages and better quality of life.

It seems in politics and business everything must be tempered and competitive to keep it above board, just like you need government to restrain corporations, you need business to restrain government; you need owners to restrain unions, and you need unions to restrain owners.

There’s so much to read, currently on “The Creature from Jekyll Island”, a book about the Fed and banking by Griffin (politically I would say it’s libertarian-capitalist flavored).

I’m more interested in results and history than theory. Would you consider the Nordic model to be the best example of practical socialism in action?

I don’t know, I’ve never lived under a socialist/communist government, I’ve only lived in a plutocracy.

Union membership is down to 10% (from 35% peak in 1950s, our “glory days”) perhaps if we get it down to 0% they will reward us with medical care and lots of free cookies? Worth a shot.

I have solutions, but they are not officially sanctioned by the US government.

All I know is what isn’t a solution… voting. You can’t force a long-gone and corrupt government to fix itself by voting and saying “please stop”.

I’ve been voting for a very long time, and for some reason they still listen to corporations instead of millions of voters. It’s almost as if they are financed and controlled by business in some way. It’s a great mystery.

You get it! I’ve been voting for a few decades, and what do you know, they have done absolutely nothing.

But I’m sure if you keep voting Democrat, they will stop trading stocks and devaluing the dollar (inflation) and so on. You know the secret to stemming the tide.

Yeah, they’ve been doing that for a decade? Two? A while, let’s just say a while.

Both “major parties” are openly colluding. Do you really think a “democracy” would tolerate unlimited bribery (“campaign funds”)? Come on now. They aren’t even bothering to hide it from you, but you refuse to see it. They are standing on the stage right out in front, laughing and clapping.

You’ll win the next election, don’t worry. Then, in another term or two, you can vote to save the democracy from the fascist comeback, who are still somehow a viable party. And the Democrats will lose it, oops! They were so close! They seem to take a knee every term or two, it’s odd. If only everyone had voted for the pro-democracy secular corporate party, and not the anti-democracy theocratic corporate party! This will be the last election!
