The schools appear to have been careful not to refer to the event as a “protest,” describing it in their communications as a “communal prayer” and a “student-led communal Shacharit.” Their messaging about the reason for the demonstration, too, has been vague. The emails viewed by Jewish Currents do not mention Mamdani’s criticism of Israel or his condemnation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the two major points of tension between the mayor and the Jewish establishment.
Despite the cautious tone, it is hard to read this mustering of day-school students outside Gracie Mansion as anything other than an act of protest against Mamdani, and an implicit charge that he poses a particular threat to observant Jews in the city. “It is time for us to stand up and be heard,” the email to Ramaz parents read. “It is time to show up proudly as Jews, as New Yorkers, and as Zionists.”
It’s not really student-led if the schools are making them go, is it.

A couple things like religion and location don’t cancel out the whole “kill people for being different” thing
I mean it would be a protest but the fact that it’s religion based and narrowly targeted makes it criminal harassment with a hate crime enhancement.
I wonder what kind of turnout they’ll get. Will it be three kids, 30, or 300?
I’m guessing on the low end. If the counter-protesters show up early, they will scare off the kids.
I don’t agree at all with the idea of sending kids to a protest like this, but I just want to point out that “Mamdani’s home” right now is really Gracie Mansion, the official residence* of the NYC Mayor**.

Not common at all. Wikipedia lists only 4 cities, and one of those was never actually used as a living space by any of the mayors.
