So, everyone gets a jar of health insurance money, but the insurers you buy from know how much is in the personal jar and one is expected to negotiate? … how is this beneficial for the customers?
It’s ok because your preexisting conditions not being covered will mean you don’t really have much incentive to actually buy it
I get a $10 incentive card every year I don’t break a bone. It’s basically the same as insurance.
Oh that’s really fucking dumb. Like so dumb it feels like it was suggested by an accelerationist whose end goal is m4a.
This is on brand for someone throwing a Great Gatsby party while fighting legal battles to ensure people on food stamps are starving.
In his head they’re just winning on top of winning. “Look at all the profits for me and my friends!”
The lack of awareness is breathtaking, I agree.
I guarantee this would turn health insurance into car insurance, where your own personal history directly affects your rates. If you have had cancer or a family history of cancer you’re getting priced out of the market, without a doubt.
Don’t forget to check their credit, no deadbeats need apply!
I froze my Equifax credit after that bullshit in 2017. If anyone tries to check that, it ain’t gonna fly. Never unfreezing them.
And an up-to-date photo for AI to analyze your chances of falling and breaking your hip.
Every “entrepreneur” I know does not have good credit.
“I want instead of going to the insurance companies, I want the money to go into an account for people, where the people buy their own health insurance. It’s so good. The insurance will be better. It’ll cost less. Everybody’s gonna be happy. They’re gonna feel like entrepreneurs,” Trump said during a Fox News interview Monday night. “They’re actually gonna be able to go out and negotiate their own health insurance. And they can use it only for that reason, that’s the beauty—only for that purpose.
So his idea for healthcare is… you use money to buy health insurance on the public market?
He’s a fucking genius!
I have to apologize for all the things I’ve said about Trump over the year. America, you are in good hands.
I don’t want to feel like a FUCKING entrepreneur I want to feel healthy without having to negotiate my health with a company that doesn’t give a fuck about anything but my money
When it comes to healthcare I want to feel like a European not an entrepreneur. I hate negotiating and I’m bad at it. But even if not I don’t have leverage. And it’s not like they’ll let you negotiate, they’ll say “80% of your paycheck, take it or leave it”
They’re gonna feel like entrepreneurs
Just what I want - to have to expend a bunch of time and expertise that I don’t have to try to buy healthcare.
They’re actually gonna be able to go out and negotiate their own health insurance
Perfect, that’s my specialty! I love reading tons of insurance policy details written in confusing legal jargon. The American people are going to thrive with this and for sure beat the big bad DEMORCAT RUN insurance companies.
Let me see if I can run down a hypothetical.
Me: Hey, I can’t afford this insurance!
Insurer: Don’t want it? Don’t buy it!
I want instead of going to the insurance companies, I want the money to go into an account for people, where the people buy their own health insurance.
I… uh… what? So is he saying that people will get a cash balance from the government to use exclusively on Healthcare, kind of like HSA/FSA, and can use it to pay their private insurance premiums? Like a universal basic income but just for Healthcare? Or only some people, like those without employer insurance, are getting money? Why is this better in any way, like even playing devils advocate, I can’t come up with a good reason for it.
and yeah, if you have this balance, and can ONLY spend it on health insurance… okay, the basic plan costs exactly as much as the government gives everyone. There’s no advantage in spending less since you can’t use it for anything else.
Troomp is stupid enough to not see how idiotic that is, but other people in his criminal cabinet are not.
Massachusetts has had for a while a subsidy on new heat pump installations, which sounds great! We looked into getting one. Heat pumps in MA cost considerably more than in the rest of the country, because installers have largely increased what they charge to capture that subsidy for themselves as extra profit.
I predict the same effect here, with private insurance.
On the other hand though, while it’s not quite savings passed on to the consumer, it is encouraging the installers to prioritize that technology over other less efficient alternatives. So I suppose it depends on what the end goal is.
Isn’t there this type of plan already? Isn’t this an HSA?
OK, but now, what if instead of everyone using that money to buy insurance the government just bought the insurance for everyone. And then what if instead of paying an insurance company to pay healthcare expenses the government just directly paid those healthcare expenses. It would be so much simpler with a lot fewer middlemen involved.
Why don’t we rename Obamacare or ACA to Trumpcare and he will praise and fund it. I think he just doesn’t like that Obama gets credit for the ACA.
Make a single payer system and call it Trumpcare. I’d be ok with that since I don’t give a shit what it’s called.
Me neither.
We could save time and just put the money in a fund to pay for bankruptcy legal expenses.
