The first place to start is making sure the motor is getting power and working backwards upstream from there to the control board and then from the control switches back to the control board. Diagnosing a control board failure is a bit more complicated.
There already are fines and campaigns, they are ineffective because of a societal lack of personal responsibility.

Not having an internet connected phone in the car wasn’t a problem when I was younger. We would play music and chat about whatever bullshit. We didn’t need to doom scroll or thumb through Instagram, we socialized.
There are two ways to deal with the problem of smart phones distracting drivers.
Option 1: Personal responsibility. Simply won’t work for most people because they are addicted to screens and have the false belief that they are adept at using their phone while driving because they do it all the time, which has lead to greater reckless use; not dissimilar from drunk drivers. A negative social stigma can help with this, but that is not a silver bullet.
Option. 2: Phones disable their screen inputs while motion is detected. This will be effective, but some people will find ways to circumvent it. Regardless of a number of users disabling a motion lock, it will provide a decrease in distracted driving related accidents.
A bonus 3rd way that isn’t as good as either of the above, physical keyboards and the return of T9 which allows for you to type while looking at the road. This minimizes the amount of time spent looking at the screen and would help a little.
Those subsidies are a fart in the wind against home prices inflated by artificial scarcity cause by passive income seekers and restrictive building codes that prevent low income and high density housing. It is like retailers giving a 10% discount for a week when they raise the prices 15%.
Such a weak and empty gesture to pander to voters. It is better than nothing, but that shouldn’t be the bar they campaign on. Dems need to grow some teeth.
The Republican strategy is to deport illegal immigrants and free up the housing they occupy, there by increasing supply and lowering demand.
The Democrat strategy is to build more low income housing and allow in anybody who wants to come here. Increasing supply slowly and increasing demand substantially.
Neither really push for a program to build low income housing and 1500sqft starter homes that are reasonably priced.
What is a starter home today is 2500sqft, and that is only because builders make more money on those than 1500sqft.
It reads like they are saying a student would have to transfer to lose status. So current students are fine, but if they transfer their visa is revoked.
Not everybody has a 9 to 5.
Vote by mail addresses a huge obstacle to voting, employment. A lot of people can’t take time off to vote.
Opening more voting sites would also be a good idea.

The goalpost was always win the elections. It hasn’t moved since 2000, Dems just keep trying to redefine how far the endzone is while they field the B team that the franchise owners like instead of solid players the fans want to see.
If the Dems would have had a proper primary and campaigned on defined goals instead of nebulous feelings and orange man bad, they could have won.
The weak and poorly defined platform cost them 6 swing states. They pissed off the Amish and the Arabs, which really hurt them in Pennsylvania and Michigan. They didn’t campaign for the Latino voters very well, which should have been a slam dunk given the deportation platform Trump had, which impacted the swing states considerably.
The Dems need to seriously rethink their strategy for 2028 or they are going to lose again. 2026 at this point is looking shaky in both directions, so the Dems need to get their shit together immediately if they are going to stop Rep issues progressing into a 2028 victory.

We absolutely need to go after FFLs that allow for guns to make it to the streets.
The biggest cause of firearms deaths is suicide, that can’t be addressed by going after guns. You have to address all the other bigger problems. Doing so will also address suicide, mental health, economic prospects, and other causes of drug overdoses, crimes including murder, alcoholism, etc.
You can’t address gun violence by going after guns, you need to go after the actual problems and not the symptom.
In most of the country, anyone without a criminal record can buy a machine gun and doesn’t need these trigger devices. Only 13 states have outright bans.
This is such a non-issue, you can convert an AR-15 to fire full auto with a coat hanger or two pieces of metal cut with a hacksaw and a file or a 3d printer. AK, AKS, Mini-14, M14, or M4 carbines can go full auto with only a shoelace. Then there is bump firing, you don’t need a special stock to do that, some people accidentally do that just because they don’t hold the rifle tight enough.
How about we work on why there is gun crime instead? Reduce the cost of living, increase wages on the bottom 50%, create better opportunities for small businesses, decrease the cost of higher education, promote trades as a career path, lower the cost of housing, increase the supply of low cost housing, improve public transit in urban areas, implement a severe progressive tax without loopholes, and build in-person community instead of allowing digital isolation through harassment.
Don’t forget people denying a member of Congress was caught on video commiting simple assault and obstruction of a federal law enforcement officer.
Nobody is above the law. There are procedures for oversight and bypassing those procedures are no different for a member of Congress than a typical citizen committing the same acts outside of the same position. Bypassing lawful procedure is not okay, regardless of political affiliation, and should not be tolerated.

I will say it again, I am in a majority Dem county and state.
It doesn’t matter who I vote for. It isn’t like there are 2 candidates that are super close, one always has a majority right away and everybody knows who that it going to be.
If we look at 2016, Hilary was always going to win because Bernie was too far left(bad for business) and everybody else had about a snowball’s chance of hitting the Sun from the part of Hell with dry heat. That same primary, Bernie nearly doubled Trump’s votes.
2020? The Dems pushed for Biden as the great hope against the Armageddon that is a second Trump term and Bernie lost hundreds of thousands of votes. Biden nearly doubled Trump’s votes.
2024? Biden got over 90% of votes because the orange man can’t win or we all die and he will put trans kids and immigrants in camps with German engineered showers. Biden had double Trump’s votes again, but got hundreds of thousands less votes than Hilary in 2016 and stepped down to make way for Harris, who only had a platform based on being a woman that isn’t white and isn’t Trump.
