This was basically the case in the “sweepstakes” he did leading up the presidential election. They admitted in court that the winners were predetermined and that nobody actually had a chance to win, so it wasn’t buying votes.

I think yes, many idol worshipping Trumpsters would like Trump to take control, but that’s a small group compared to Republicans on the whole. Many Republicans own weapons for this reason. Why start now? Also nothing short of a constitutional amendment can make that happen legally (unless the Supreme Court declares the constitution unconstitutional, hah). Even if he personally doesn’t retain power, I expect Republicans to dismantle the system to the point that they can just install another sycophant.
