While the political attack defense is definitely part of it, there has been a bipartisan and long running fraud investigation in Minnesota. It began in the Biden admin, and runs parallel to state investigations into a scheme where Federal and State money was obtained under false pretenses and sometimes transferred overseas. A large portion of it did happen in the Somali communities and some of this money is believed to have entered the political scene through various forms of donations and quid pro quo. In that, if those in the state and potentially those who serve in Washington acted to maintain the money flow and received compensation for it, then that could help form the basis of a RICO investigation. Even the city of Minneapolis politicans are implicated in it because Mayor Frey’s wife was an attorney for many of the ones who ended up being convicted during the course of this bipartisan state and federal investigation. His wife had to leave the lawfirm shortly after and there is a high coorelation to the beginning of a Federal probe at the time. By the way, if you want to get paid from a criminal enterprise the best thing to do is be a lawyer for it and charge it large fees.
