We’re fighting amongst ourselves over it being AI? This wasn’t even about AI, it’s counter productive and exactly what gets us where we are, they have us chasing our own tails instead of Epstein and McConnell.

It’s got the underline brush strokes of those generic AI flyers that ChatGPT craps out.

The font texture is also inconsistent but to be devils advocate it could be a Photoshop filter. Tbh though the underline brush strokes give it away as AI.

The way “please” isn’t correctly centered might be a giveaway. Or someone is just really bad at typography

You’re right, and “Remember” is a little off center too.

Someone with enough skill to make text with a seamless textured mask would definitely know to center the whole thing. Good catch.

Why would this particular person, who presumably opened Gimp or Procreate or Photoshop, choose to use differing texture masks on the words, and a different texture on the brush strokes, and then after all this was done, completely fail to take thirty seconds to center the text?

Because there never was a person making these choices.

It actually isn’t. Resources were wasted conveying an important message which could be typed on a keyboard.

“Move along?” What are you, a cop?

What, you got a problem with a photographer who’s calling you out for adding slop to Lemmy? You’re putting words in my mouth saying I “made a distraction comment?”

              Buddy, no, this ain’t it.

This is a side effect that the billionaires who run the AI models are counting on: that people no longer pay attention to the message itself, but instead waste their time speculating about whether someone used a proper app or image generation.

You’ll never be able to close Pandora’s box. So…

What I’m getting at is this: People have been using it for a long time now, whether you like it or not. I don’t like it, but it’s still the reality. Pretending it isn’t helps no one—in this case, it’s even counterproductive for the reasons I mentioned.

That’s why I called it “Panora’s box”: This technology is out there—there’s no changing that, even if we’d like to.

I still don’t think that advocating for using a slop machine is a good look. The keyboard and the title box is right there. Much less effort, much more immediacy of message, screen readers can pick it up, and folks don’t have to download an image to see the message.

I’m not using the goddamn AI slop ladle. It’s an active choice. No one is forced to ladle more AI slop onto the internet.

You are not forced to ladle more AI slop on the internet. All you have to do is to choose not to do it, and instead just type your message on the keyboard.
