No Russia put out propaganda and cnn puts whatever will get clicks and views out regardless of how truthful or well vetted it is.

Are you seriously going to argue cnn is a credible wholely truthful news source at point? Really?

No they aren’t, Russia wouldn’t have purchased thousands of Iranian drones if they could produce them domestically.

        […]

        Russia put out propaganda

The original link in this post is to an article by the Associated Press (syndicated on a website owned by Bell Canada) and it cites “U.S. and European officials” as its primary source to support the claim made in the headline that Russia is supplying drones to Iran.

I’m curious: did you call this Russian propaganda after reading only the headline, without actually realizing who is saying what here?

Correct me if I’m wrong but I suspect that after you read the article and see that Russia in fact denies sending drones to Iran (and says the seven trucks they just sent have food and medical supplies) you’ll probably change your mind and decide that they probably are in fact sending drones.

Yes and they’re going by Russian propaganda and surely you aren’t implying us intelligence hasnt ever been wrong, correct? Like I dunno wmds in Iraq, Afghanistan or currently in Iran.

Of course Russia denys it, the point is to back an ally with the claim they’re helping which makes Russia a credible war target which would involve actual nukes. They’re just stiring the pot and informed people shouldn’t buy their bullshit regardless of whatever political factionism is involved.

I am sincerely baffled as to what your perspective about this story is.

Do you believe that EU and US officials are spreading Russian propaganda via the Associated Press about Russia supply drones to Iran (which, as you said earlier, you believe they do not in fact have the ability to manufacture) and therefore Russia’s denial is actually true but also part of their cunning plan to deceive us?

                Or what?

What officials, whom from where exactly? For all you know they don’t exist hell they’re not even claiming they’re in the dod or any intelligence branch. What if it’s the white house janitor? That’s sorta the issue with anonymous sources, they can publish it and when it comes out it was bullshit they can go well we were just working with the information we had.

They’re producing some, sure. They aren’t producing export amounts or they wouldn’t be importing Iranian drones, no one wants to pay markup especially if you have better at home anyway.

It’s a form of propaganda, release a story that makes you look more capable then you are and then deny it. Every country does this the US and Russia especially so.

Capitalists don’t have morals or values. They worship profit and will do literally anything to make an extra dollar. You’d think .ml of all places would understand that much at least.

Correct, capitalists seek profit above all-else. Part of this includes propogating media with messaging and bias that supports them. This is an example of how cultural hegemony works. By controlling the media, capitalists direct society towards their own interests and ways of thinking, entrenching bourgeois ideology and bourgeois framing. You saw this with Iraq and the supposed WMD.

Yeah that’s not how it works anymore. Media will put out wherever they think will make them money. Scruples aren’t profitable and are therefore home the way of the dodo.

Media agencies both seek to make money and keep their owners in power. Do you think that when the New York Times capes for Israel and understates their genocide, that this is for engagement alone?

I’m not ignoring anything. As I’ve already pointed out, Russian military production is fairly well documented. And the fact that Russia is producing drones at scale is an indisputable fact. You’re the one screeching that it’s all made up, so maybe explain what we may generously refer to as your logic here.

They almost certainly do, Russia getting involved by sending drones helps the current regime. They want scale war and Russia doesn’t give a fuck about Iran outside of munitions production. Let them keep producing munitions and halt exports to Ukraine and that’s a net benefit to Russia, not a loss.

This isn’t the most relevant part of this exchange, but I always find it interesting when people, presumably westerners, say things like this. It’s not like you’re in any position to know what countries the Russian government does or does not care about, so i can only assume you’re just kind of…saying shit? Which hey, as a westerners myself I understand, we love to just say shit and make guesses and present them as obvious facts, but that’s all this is. And I think it comes from this unexamined thing we grow up with, this idea that the way our governments act is normal and common sense, and anyone in the same position would act the same way. But the more I learn, the more i think that’s not true, and I think it leads to people making unfounded projections about other people’s values and intentions.

Assume I’m Western then immediately admit you’re “westerners”

Actions are the most visible and generally the most truthful, Russia does not care about Iran.

Actions such as sending them advanced integrated radar systems before the US attack and sending them upgraded drones that have been improved with the lessons learned in Ukraine. If you think these are the actions of a government that doesn’t care, i think you might be drunk. I also think you would benefit from doing something else for a bit. I engaged politely, and you immediately turned and snarled. You’re clearly wound tight right now, and are arguing using claims that don’t make sense for the sake of a “win”.

US capitalists want regime change so they can steal Iran’s oil and resources, which would necessarily end munitions sales from Iran to Russia. They certainly don’t want a war that drags on until the global economy collapses.

I think you’ve got the material interests of US capitalists confused.

No duh? Everyone knows they’re there for oil. It does not necessarily mean no munitions production, the US only wants the oil they don’t care about the people either and they’re certainly willing to look the other way as Russia takes what it wants like I dunno munitions factories and supplies.
