n the 2024 election, nearly one in three Americans voted using mail-in or absentee ballots, accounting for some 48 million votes. And despite persistent rhetoric against it, even President Donald Trump votes by mail. Nevertheless, Trump further admonished mail voting while pushing the SAVE America Act, which could radically change how people vote ahead of the midterms. “Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating,” he said to press in Memphis, Tenn., Monday. “I call it mail-in cheating, and we got to do something about it all.”
Outside of the legislature, another body is doing something about mail ballots that may change how millions of Americans vote. The U.S. Supreme Court began oral arguments Monday on Watson v. RNC, a case determining if Mississippi allowing late mail-in ballots violates federal law establishing a specific election day. The largest question in this case is whether ballots need to be received by Election Day or just be cast by Election Day and allowed to be received later.

Okay, your deadline to mail in your votes is the day you get it or the day after.
Nope, you just can’t use mail. They’ve gamed it so far now that they’ll invalidate all the mail-in’s
We have to go to the polls
This is the way.
Some people can’t and so the President’s planned disenfranchisement is going to work to an extent. I don’t believe the split favors them by much in the states that matter to the midterms. If only able bodied people voted I think they will still lose.
The other part of the disenfranchisement campaign, in the SAVE Act, is the requirement to have a bunch of current legal documents or a passport. This law will more strongly affect poor, young and married women voters… all demographics where Trump and Co. poll poorly.
I don’t think they’re getting the SAVE Act passed by the midterms so the most major hurdle that could possibly happen will be whatever comes out of the Supreme Court. A worst case scenario is that they craft some ruling that can be read in a way to effectively implement the SAVE Act’s strict documentation requirement and disenfranchise the poor/young/married women demographics without needing to pass a law.
