This is all performative. I think AOC has already been promised Chuck’s seat without a primary challenger in 2028, and she’s gonna take it.

She knows that if she ran for President in 2028, she would’t stand a chance, because she lacks a key thing that Gavin has – a penis. Look at the last few elections, and you will see that whenever the Democrats ran someone with that key asset for President, they won! The last penis-haver who lost was John Kerry, and he had his own issues.

No, all of America isn’t a misogynist hellhole. But there are enough people out there who will come up with any excuse to not vote for a woman to make a difference. (My favorite from the last election was the guy who didn’t vote for Harris because she reminded him too much of his ex-wife.)

AOC will run for Senate and win, and serve there for a term or three. Maybe by then, we’ll be ready for a female President.

Sure, but she appears to be an effective enough politician that making her VP is a bit of a waste. All the VP does is settle fights in the Senate and wait for the President to die.

Americans are currently still too misogynist to elect a female president. I’m sure she would do a great job, but it’s safer to slot her into the VP slot for now.

Safest to have her take Chuck’s Senate seat. But I am acting a bit selfish here: as a New York State resident, I don’t want to give her up yet.

With the insane temperature of US politics these days, I almost don’t want her to run…

She should just take schumers senate seat. Its more valuable to have another leftist vote in the senate chamber than it is to have one in the hot seat.

Reminds me of this futurama clip with all the bickering we’ll have about how she’s not left enough or she’s the same as the couch fucker.

AOC is the candidate I’ll vote for unless we get someone better. But will she have the guts to do the very same things Trump is doing, But for good?

<sigh> I wish we had ranked choice voting…

all the bickering we’ll have about how she’s not left enough or she’s the same as the couch fucker.

Progressives are the most reliable voting block for the Dem party, and have been for decades…

What wins and loses elections is the 1/3 of the country that doesn’t traditionally vote.

But we’re not going to see the same pressure on AOC to move left that weve seen on the Dem candidate back to 2012, because this will be the first time since 08 the candidate won’t be to the right of the voting base. Hell, the last Dem candidates have been to the right of the general populace even.

Obviously some people will want more, but they’ll be statistically insignificant.

<sigh> I wish we had ranked choice voting…

We’ll have a fair primary this time, one that will let every state vote. And if people bomb at first they’ll drop. It’s not the same as simultaneous RCV nationwide for a primary, and I hope someday we’ll get that.

But honestly, most problems with the party were solved last year in the chair election. Billionaire owned media just isn’t gonna talk about.

Doesn’t matter if she’s ready, doesn’t matter if she even wants to be president

The next presidential is a “stars align” election and we can be deep in some FDR level shit in a decade because of it

It doesn’t need to be AOC, but it’ll be easier for her than anyone else

And maga won’t say anything about her they didn’t say about Hillary, Biden, or Harris. So it doesn’t matter what they’d say, and Obama showed us we don’t need neoliberals to win elections if we have a candidate with any measurable charisma.

So the only “downside” would be the neoliberals becoming Republicans again, which would start moderating that side of the aisle again.

Yeah, if she’s going to be the nominee, that probably matters.

You don’t know what “neoliberal” means and your “both sides” bullshit has brought about two Trump presidencies.

Obama the “neoliberal” won only on charisma and not policy? Utter bullshit.

You guys will stop at nothing to keep Republicans in power. You don’t care about progressive issues.

        Oh yeah totally…

The reason trump got elected twice wasn’t we kept running people with zero charisma and policy significantly to the right of the Dem voter base…

It’s because some people online had the outright gall to talk about it, if they’d have just maintained the lie, maybe enough people would have fell for the lies!

Fearmongering and badmouthing have made Ocasio-Cortez a bit of a… Let’s just say, there are a lot of Democrats who won’t vote for her.

I would. Absolutely. But we need a safe bet, one that will appeal to everyone who ain’t a fucking MAGAt moron.
