Greene gives lengthy interview with New York Times days before stepping down as congresswoman for Georgia

Marjorie Taylor Greene, now just days away from stepping down as a congresswoman for Georgia, has said in her latest mea culpa interview that she “was just so naive” for believing that Donald Trump was a man of the people.

In a lengthy interview with the New York Times that examines her break with the president after years of devotion, Greene explained that a series of minor ruptures with the president culminated in a total breach after conservative influencer Charlie Kirk was killed in September.

The third-term Georgia congresswoman said she was watching Kirk’s memorial service on TV when his widow Erika said she forgave her husband’s killer. But then Trump took the stage to say that unlike Kirk – “a missionary with a noble spirit” who did not “hate” his opponents, Trump said he disagreed.

“I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them,” Trump said.

You’re doing that thing where you think everyone is the same as you. And you saw it coming.

Some people saw it earlier, some saw it later, some still havent seen it.

But empathy isn’t a weakness it’s a strength. So please stop acting like a Republican and understand our opponents even if the only reason is it helps us win.

What you’re doing now hurts our chances of winning, even though that’s probably not your intent you’re helping trump.

I wanna make this abundantly clear:

MTG was fully aware of and supportive of every single fucking thing Trump has done, promised to do, and will do.

This is all a facade and she is only undertaking it because she is part of the population of GOP politicians that is no longer confident Trump can steal the 2026 and 2028 elections.

Green said that her turn away from unrepentant Maga acolyte came in that moment and she abandoned her training “to never apologize and to never admit when you’re wrong”.

I’m sorry, are we all just glossing over the casual mention that there’s MAGA training to never apologize or admit you’re wrong? I assumed this was their unofficial playbook, but this is the first I’ve ever heard of an actual training being mentioned.

She has stated repeatedly that her political opponents are evil devil worshippers who should be executed. Nothing she says should ever be taken as legitimate or true.

She went from a net worth of about 300k to over 20 million in 5 years. Totally normal on a public servant salary.

Thanks for sharing! The NYT article takes it easy on MTG, but I’m hoping it might resonate with one or two family members that can’t get enough OAN.

Yeah, the NYT article is extensively written but essentially a puff piece, IMO. Its author got a bit schooled in the comments; almost all the top ones are about what was omitted (like her net worth before and after) as opposed to what was written. But everyone who’s been paying attention already knows all that, so if mainstream media finally helps someone come over from the dark side even in spite of themselves, that’s probably a win at this point. Good luck with your folks.

True statement and thanks! It’s really hard to break through the walled garden, and I’ll take any crack I can give it.

You’re not naive, you’re an evil, ignorant, opportunistic waste of skin & oxygen that knew she could get rich riding on Trump’s populist coattails & is now jumping ship like the other rats since he’s shown his true face & 1/2 of his moronic base finally figured out that they are in fact the baddies.

Trump called her and yelled “my friends will get hurt” if the files were released.

Trump admits his friends are pedophiles and/or sex traffickers.
