    Once I was planning to do a fruit picking or forklift job at an orchard but the email conversation stopped when I told them I didn’t want to work 12 hour days. I have no idea how people are supposed to do this work unless they have money to put down on a bond for a rental plus a reliable and sturdy car for the open road.

        I used to work ridiculous hours at Foodstuffs South Island, we didn’t even get a bonus for working past midnight. I don’t know how it happened, but our society is ruined.

      Apparently some of the contracts also require you to stay in the company accommodation, so they get to claw back most of what they pay anyway.

      It’s exploitation all the way down.
