No not tired of Trump or Biden but the whole government. The incompetence overall. Please don’t harp on one of the presidents all day. BOTH SUCK. In fact if you look real hard you’ll realize all of them sucked

Here in Germany, a minority is, but most people I interact with are quite happy and trust the government. They do fear the right wing though.

Over here, People trust the government and although they may complain, in the end they see the politicians as their peers instead of enemies. Germany is naturally famous for its ”Realpolitik”: some things can’t be fixed so a realistic consensus must be achieved. In the USA this used to be possible, but it seems MAGA don’t like compromise 🤭

I actually think people in Germany are scared of doing anything to “polar” with the government because you all had Hitler. Not wanting to go extreme in any way. I say this from having a family member in Germany and meeting several Germans in person. Economy sliding down and the government is practically begging to be next in line to fight Russia, even though it’s unnecessary. I honestly think you all are trying to tune it out from what I noticed

Yes and no. Currently, a large portion of the small business owners are firmly pro-Trump, and a lot of wealthier dems are still hardline liberal democrats, but the working class does seem to be more engaged politically and rejecting the parties. It remains to be seen if they get suckered into electoralism again, or if we finally get organized as a class.

Australian here. It’s hard to say how anyone feels because the media and major social media have been astro turfed so hard. But it’s plain to see to everyone that neither side of politics down under is interested in changing the status quo.

I get the sense people are disillusioned and seeing through all the smoke and mirrors from all sides of politics, but it’s just leading to cynicism and disengagement rather than alternative options.

I have been wondering if maybe the path to a Star Trek future lies in peacefully tolerating and co-operating with these “authorities” as they fade into irrelevance. We can build new systems of governance peacefully, slowly and meaningfully.

Government might have a stranglehold on physical infrastructure and gate keep our human needs like food and shelter, but in their hubris and obsession with wealth extraction they forgot that all of us have knowledge, skills and capacity that they do not. This is the spirit that worker and union movements were based on in the late 20th century and I believe we are headed for something similar in tech and perhaps other expertise led jobs like law, medicine and science.

Corporations are getting increasingly incompetent, it’s easy to foresee down the line large corporations having to broker deals with the equivalent of guilds and to apply for licensing in order to use technology, i.e. if you are a sociopath you don’t get to use social media automation technology. Kinda like the principle that people on drugs aren’t allowed to operate heavy machinery. Perhaps the open source community will even ban large tech from using open source unless certain conditions are met, beyond just “don’t slam our servers” but into making sure there’s a match on values and legal compliances.

Happy to hear your thoughts on the matter. I’ve been mulling how to fight back for a while and this is what I’ve come up with. I highly doubt it will “get done” in my lifetime, but I also believe any real meaningful change does take an eternity and I’m happy to be one of the many metaphorical birds striking the diamond mountain of capitalism.

I don’t believe open source creators will stop big tech from using them because they are open source and it’s antithetical to its creation.

I certainly don’t expect them to ban sociopaths lol. They would have to know they are sociopaths and give them psychological evaluations. Which they don’t do on even the general public.

My take is that instead of making rules for these evil corporations and nefarious governments. They must be purged of all evil and nefarious intention. People must stop worshiping the “Devil” and tolerating “Devil worshipers”

The religion doesn’t matter per say, it’s just the idea that corruption of human nature and abuse of power is malevolent

Use of knowledge and wisdom for assistance and improving society is benevolent.

I don’t believe open source creators will stop big tech from using them because they are open source and it’s antithetical to its creation.

There is already a precedence for this - Russians have been blocked by the open source community from contributing to multiple projects including the Linux kernel, Github and numerous smaller projects that actively also campaign for Ukraine.

Open source isn’t just about giving code away so everyone can use it no matter what, it’s a set of values and principles. If open source is used for genocide, generating CSAM, surveillance tech, etc… Then limits need to be enforced by the creators.

They must be purged of all evil and nefarious intention.

How will you… achieve this exactly? Surely the better path to the future is to achieve consensus through a mutually agreed set of rules. You can’t change what people really are inside, and if you try to you’re just gonna create bigger problems. My 2c.

You’re right can’t change peoples minds. You can just raise them to be better minded people. I just don’t see how blocking open source will fix anything. You could just pirate the software. Or even better they will need to create their own and they will become professional at it. Tons of these companies have to sanction Russia from pressure from the west thats the only reason they are doing it. They (businesses) are currently in mass trying to reenter the Russian market.

Ukraine kidnaps thousands of men to fight the war and video evidence is simple to find. They support nazis and are in some cases. They are terrorist they keep attempting to blow nuclear power plants. They are basically evil. I’m not going to give you a whole history lesson you can research. But just understand when Hitler was in power he was popular. After the war its understood that he was evil

I’m pretty tired of the way EU works today, and needs a reformation to be taken seriously. The voting process of a union is just killing it, and there is no progress, when 1 or 2 nations can just veto against, and then nothing happens. This is apparently an “unforseen” - bug in the system. Which automatically should lead us towards federalising, and Saying: “Everyone who wants EU can join, everyone who doesn’t, we’ll still be friends and making trade deals, but you are no longer getting any of the sweet benefits from EU.”

The US state being an arm of capital is more of a leftist stance than right-wing. It’s efficient enough, it’s just that it solidifies imperialism and exports genocide and destruction globally to keep that going.

Don’t get stuck on the both sides war. Thats pure right wing propaganda. They gut the government so it cant do anything well, then say “look at that government sucks! We will just buy it up make it private and everything will be ok i pwomise”

Then we get deeper into the shit.

Also, one side is literally nazis, the other is pretty bad at certain policies. Wow what a hard choice.

Both US parties are genocidal imperialist parties, the state still serves capital. The capitalist state is not the “good guy” here, even if the DNC is in control, because both parties are beholden strictly to capital.

Worker organizing, and eventually revolution. Same as all genuine change has come historically, organizing and revolution when organizing isn’t enough.

Im of the opinion with our creature comforts of today, this will not happen in America, and if it does it will take over 30 years for it to get bad enough that anyone wants to risk anything for a revolution of sorts. Plus most Americans dont want a revolution, so youd be fighting each other plus the government.

We will see. Im not in a city so I highly doubt ill ever see anything happen here.

The treats are harder to come by, and US imperialism is crumbling, meaning even fewer treats. Further, revolution can’t really happen without mass support in the first place.

Statesians aren’t “too stupid.” Statesians, like everyone else, license themselves to believe that that which benefits them is just. Trying to blame deliberate acceptance of the status quo on a lack of intelligence actually does more to absolve Statesians of our responsibility to tear down the empire from within.

One side is actively stripping away rights and deporting innocent people.

So youre saying Kamala would have been equally as bad as Drumpf. I dont agree.

I get that both sides suck but its what we have, its not going to change, and one of them is clearly better than the other for individual rights.
