Summary
Trump’s new “border czar,” Tom Homan, announced family detention centers are part of the administration’s immigration enforcement plan, potentially reviving practices ended by Biden.
Homan supports litigating the Flores Settlement Agreement, which limits detaining migrant children to 20 days, and aims to increase immigration judges to expedite cases.
While he denies plans for large-scale family separations, critics like the ACLU warn the proposals could coerce parents into tough decisions about their children.
Fixed.

I wonder how surprised some of his voters will be if/when they end up in donvict’s concentration camps, oops, I mean, “detention centers” because they had a bit too much melanin and maybe certain last names…

Ok so how do u propose u do it without such centres? And dont say “dont do it at all” thats what u voted for.
Trump voters don’t care, and enjoy the cruelty. Others didn’t vote for this. So who is “u”? Both of the Trump voters who care about the treatment of immigrants?
U as a nation.
I would assume that the Americans who are concerned about the treatment of immigrant families and the Americans who voted for Trump are fairly disjoint groups. So it’s not really fair to tell the first group that they should just accept such centres because they voted for them, since they mostly didn’t.
You really have missed the point. You, as a nation, voted for Donald Trump he is therefore ur president, whether you like it or not.
So it’s not really fair to tell the first group that they should just accept such centres because they voted for them, since they mostly didn’t.
By that logic it’s not fair to tell the January 6 rioters that they should just accept the election.
Democracy requires that you accept the outcome of elections, not that you agree with the policies enacted by the majority.
U dont have to agree. All u have to do is accept it. So now that we have established that u have accepted it what alternative solution do u have to deport all these people without thses centres?
You make it sound like I (or anybody else on Lemmy) is in charge of implementing this extremely inhumane policy. Again, I emphasise that I do not agree with mass deportations.

Didn’t vote for this fuck, so, don’t do it at all.
But ur nation did. And ur part of that democratic proccess.
I know this might be popular belief or something, but I am an individual, my beliefs do not necessarily align with what my government believes.
Not sure why everyone thinks this. Individuals are not their government. It’s ridiculous that it even needs to be said.
