Despite winning an election in the most Jewish city in America, repeatedly speaking about the need to combat antisemitism during his campaign, and cross-endorsing Jewish candidate Brad Lander, pro-Israel politicians and pundits claim that Mamdani’s win makes Jewish New Yorkers feel unsafe because he has refused to condemn the phrase “Globalize the Intifada”, a slogan that encourages international support for the Palestinian cause.
Mamdani has never actually used the phrase himself.
Responding to a slew of inaccurate statements from an anti-Palestinian caller on The Brian Lehrer Show, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) said that New York Jews were “alarmed” by Mamdani’s positions, “particularly references to global jihad.”
Lehrer pushed back on Gillibrand’s assertion, asking the Senator whether she had any proof that Mamdani supported violence. “Again Brian, I don’t have all the data and information, and I’ve never sat down with Mr. Mamdani,” she responded. “So I’ve asked to have that meeting.”
Rep. Laura Gillen (D-NY) baselessly claimed that Mamdani has called for violence against Jewish people in the past.
Current New York Mayor Eric Adams told CNN’s Jake Tapper that Mamdani was antisemitic because he praised Hamas. When Tapper questioned the claim, Adams told him that he would be able to find proof by doing a “little research.”
Both parties are clearly not the same, but this type of shit has me convinced the American experiment is over.
Funny, we had similar in our ostensibly actually left wing party in the UK a few years ago. We have a democratic leadership process and the labour membership elected an actually left-of-centre leader

Social liberals are almost as megalomaniac as standard conservatives, it sadly seems. If they don’t get to be in charge, no one does, in their eyes.
In Germany, pretty much all established parties and even Organizations like the churches do this – without taking the opinion of the population into account in the slightest.
I really wonder what leverage Israel has to achieve this. Instead of decisively condemning all the war crimes, violations of international law, cold-blooded murder, and systematic genocide in light of Germany’s past, our politicians even invoke our “historical responsibility” while aiding and abetting these unspeakable crimes. I simply cannot explain how this is possible, even with arguments that would be remotely plausible, especially since the International Criminal Court has long issued arrest warrants against several members of the Israeli government, which are binding in Germany.
It is a declaration of moral bankruptcy that extends across virtually the entire political system and even into civil organizations.
The coordinated political hit job on Corbyn was so ugly and blatant.
Democrats would rather lose with a neoliberal than win with a mild socialist.

I can only hope that was hyperbole out of frustration i do not consider both the parties to be the same, republicans are obviously worse. But i am a lot more angry with democrats then republicans.
Being upset with republicans is like being angry at the weather. It’s a waste of time once you are determined to do something about it. But then you have those assholes who obstruct any progress doing something about it for their own personal gain fucking over everything and everyone. They may not be the source of the problem, but they are an obstacle we have to overpower in order to handle the actual problem
Democrats are putting up more of a fight against the guy who wants to tax billionaires than the guy staging a coup.
