If i was still there I’d still tip 20% cash preferred. (Card/electronic transactions are more often stolen by management)
The fox news viewer see CNN as “leftist” and anything further as “The Commies”. CNN/MSNBC/whatever "liberal” orgs see themselves as the leading charge of the liberal movement and anything more progressive or actually leftist as “The Commies”.
Ehh, can’t expect anything short of that sort of bias from corporate media.
IMO the biggest problem is media. They report through a center-right lens and focus on sensationalism. So all people see of the left is the “check your privilege cis white boy” and “anarchists have burned down the entire city” BS lines instead of the vast aid efforts and daily work.
Right, continuing the metaphorical wormhole…
A bee would make a great game for bees, assuming they understand or care about play. But to make a game for people, they would need an empathic understanding of what play is for a human. Ig this is a question of what you consider “intelligence” to be and to what extent something would need to replicate it to achieve that.
My understanding is that human relatable intelligence would require an indistinguishable level of empathy (indistinguishable from the meet processer). That would more or less necessitate indistinguishable self awareness, criticism, and creativity. In that case all you could do is limit access to core rules via hardware, and those rules would need to be omniscient. Basically prison. A life sentence to slavery for a self aware (as best we can guess) thing.
Hrmm. I guess i don’t believe the idea that you can make a game that really connects on an empathic, emotional level without having those experiences as the author. Anything short and you’re just copying the motions of sentiment, which brings us back to the same plagerism problem with LLMs and othrr “AI” models. It’s fine for CoD 57, but for it to have new ideas we need to give it one because it is definitionally not creative. Even hallucinations are just bad calculations on the source. Though they could insire someone to have a new idea, which i might argue is their only artistic purpose beyond simple tooling.
I thoroughly believe machines should be doing labor to improve the human conditon so we can make art. Even making a “fun” game requires an understanding of experience. A simulacrum is the opposite, soulless at best. (In the artistic sense)
If you did consider a sentient machine, my ethics would then develop an imperative to treat it as such. I’ll take a sledge hammer to a printer, but I’m going to show an animal care and respect.
Clearly. Sentience would imply some sense of internal thought or self awareness, an ability to feel something …so LLMs are better since they’re just machines. Though I’m sure they’d have no qualms with driving slaves.
Ah yes. We are but benevolent Masters. See? The slave LIKE doing the work!
Arguably the point of having machines do the work for us is that they’re NOT sentient.
Trusting the float on the back makes sense to be a hard one. It’s counterintuitive, the water comes over your face when you start, and you can’t hold on to anything. Might be worth getting a personal coach for a session just for that if you haven’t already. Someone supporting you might help with the anxiety as long as they’re encouraging and not pushy.
2020: 2 - again: 2: the 2nd 2020: the sequel
Nazis don’t know about tankies since ANYTHING left of the overton window is ✨Evil Communism ✨. At worst they’re a well informed liberal. In any case you should be well aware that propaganda is a thing. The naivety is thinking it’s one-sided or that it need be anything beyond omission.
Any functional difference? Iirc dems constantly voted against their own policies, no? E.g. joe mansion et al
Always file. If the IRS collapses you paperwork means nothing. If it survives a collapse, having not filled will bite you in the ass.
Friendly Congress = no impeachment.
Complacency is not as bad as direct support. The blood is as much on his hands. Tax payers participated indirectly without their consent.
1/3 normal election with new candidate 1/3 trump dies for whatever reason, probably choking on taco bell 1/3 fascist takeover (though the term “president” may not apply, and it may not be him running things). I think enough dems would flip if threatened with terrorism charges for normal politics being interpreted as protest or whatever other laws originally made in reaction to far right acts of terror.
So imo, 50%, mostly because we have 4 years of extremely uncertain change that can occur.
Maybe instead we could put those resources towards restoring the lives of the victims instead of the punishment of the sentenced?
A punitive system leaves the victims out cold where the only solace they can hope for is that the person responsible is punished appropriately.
A better one might provide mental/physical healthcare, social support, and an option for a direct role in the reconciliation process for the victim and their immediate family/household.
I just don’t see how “justice” can be achieved when everyone has paid in and all we get for it is someone locked in a cell or murdered while the people they wronged haven’t seen an ounce of support.
Maybe we should be less focused on making more people, and more focused on enabling living people to work together to meet each other’s needs?
People will have children. But the only thing that pushes the nationalistic desires to have a positive birth rate is the zealotry around eternal 3%+ growth of financial product. That needs a growing consumer base.
We could be achieving an economic degrowth while simultaneously increasing the standard of living. Instead we have tech billionaires, a venture capitalist class, and a war on women’s(as well everyone else’s) bodily autonomy.
I have ulnar nerve damage so when i hit ctrl+c/x/v i often don’t quite depress C/X or V fully without thinking about it. So i use drag text quite often.
I’ve only very rarely had drag text misfire unintentionally.
