This [FPTP] is the weapon of the enemy, we do NOT (need to) USE it.
Any Condorcet method would yield a significant improvement in representation accuracy, but it would trigger one heck of a party re-alignment.
I’m also on Mastodon as https://hachyderm.io/@BoydStephenSmithJr .

As far as I know yes.
But, D congresspersons rarely speak against party leadership.

I still think she’s insane, but I wish we had more progressive, D congresspersons that had this attitude of serving The People instead of the DNC.

LOL got me

It wouldn’t surprise me if Miller was one of those “Skinny guys [that] fight 'til they’re burger.”
I thought he might have been the source of Elmu’s black eye for a while.

I disagree that an IQ restriction would be an improvement. It would just be another tool used by authority to marginalize. Competency tests have been used as such in both the U.S. South and Nazi Germany.
Improving the electorate and having the output of the voting process reflect their will is the only way forward.

IQ is a poor metric (for just about anything).
We do need to work on election reform so that our elected representatives are more representative. Getting more people to vote (turn out in the U.S. is fairly low), avoiding partizan gerrymandering, using something other than FPtP.

I hope you never have to experience a life-changing health event.
As far as I know, there’s intentionally no recall procedure for federal offices. So, the system is designed so that districts do put up with turncoats. I would be open to changing that, but I’m not interested in championing such a change.

I think this is an insensitive thing to post. I fear it might be true. A more active fear center (even just relative to other brain functions) might explain not only the policy shifts, but also this outburst.
I hope he can get that care he needs (if any). I don’t think his actions (so far) as impeachable, so we’ll just have to wait until he’s served the rest of his term before the people of his great state can replace him.

“Sure my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship,” Lewinsky wrote in 2014. “Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position.”
Lewinsky says she now sees that her relationship with Clinton was full of “inappropriate abuse of authority, station, and privilege.”
“Now, at 44, I’m beginning (just beginning) to consider the implications of the power differentials that were so vast between a president and a White House intern,” she wrote. “I’m beginning to entertain the notion that in such a circumstance the idea of consent might well be rendered moot.”
@[email protected] didn’t take away Lewinski’s agency.

There is still a lot of disagreement about what a good diet looks like. The government propaganda on behalf of the agri-industrial complex that was the food pyramid is still around out there, for one.
It also takes time many people don’t seem to have to eat well. Ready-to-eat food is near universally bad for you, tho it is at least labeled as such if you read nutrition labels or visit the nutritional information page of your favorite chain.
I’m all for better information resources with the best information we do have about diet and any other health maintenance, to reduce “self-inflicted” health conditions. But, I’m against reducing funding for treatment of people’s current health conditions, whatever the cause.

I just want a version that supports multiplayer on Linux. I wasn’t able to experience the writing disaster that was BL3. Been stuck in single player on BL2 or the pre-sequel for years.
Depends on the progressive, I’d say. But, they are certainly more willing to, so I might have been better to leave that adjective out of my comment.
