Yeah it’s crazy to me how quickly they dropped price controls as a talking point as soon as the corporate media was against it. That could have easily been their populist position to counter Trump’s claims that getting rid of illegal immigrants would drive prices down.

They do that cause Republicans win the less people are able to vote. When you disenfranchise people who don’t have the time or care to deal with getting an ID you are left with either richer people or older people who both tend to vote Republican. So of course they’re gonna require ID to vote and make it as hard as possible for working people to get a valid ID for voting.

Honestly when switching from Reddit to here that is the thing I missed the most. It was a lot better at serving you things you liked compared to here where you can only really sort by either what’s active or popular or what you’re subscribed to. I get some people really like that but a lot of people want it to be more personalized to them without having to go search for the things they want. It’s also great for discovering new things because sure I can setup my subscriptions to show what I like but then it won’t make connections and show me new things I might like. Combine that with there being less content and therefore certain areas of interest not being represented here at all makes mainstream social media better for most people.

I think that ended with the death of their fascist leader and then a peaceful transition towards democracy. So it can happen but only if your leader dies and the successor wants to reform the country back to democracy.

After 9/11 terrorism gained a much more negative connotation I think. Idk fully about what it was like before since I wasn’t alive but in Deep Space Nine you literally have a character who said she was a terrorist and that’s not really seen as like an inherently evil thing like it would be in the current day. I think people understood the nuance back then that sometimes terrorism ends up being justified when you’re fighting for freedom against an oppressor.

It’s not really competition anymore though, since they often use SpaceX rockets for what they do now.

Yeah the problem there is you’re gonna get horrific working conditions and if you try to speak up about it they’ll call ICE on you and get another immigrant to replace you.

Yeah I definitely still have problems with remembering to do it, especially if I get an idea when I’m not at a place where it’s easy to note the idea down. But even having a few things on there can be enough and sometimes help with jogging my memory about other things I wanted when it comes closer to an event.

I have the same problem when I need to come up with things on the spot. So instead I keep a list that I add ideas I get for things I want over time. That way if someone asks I can show them that and I don’t have to think on the spot about what I want.

Well considering a lot of the discussion on here is around tech and specifically Linux that doesn’t surprise me. Very online tech people usually aren’t that interested in sports.

Would be nice but congress is Republican controlled and for any court related stuff it could just go up to the supreme Court and be ruled Trump’s way. Or just flat out ignored cause who is gonna stop him if he just ignores court rulings.

I think it’s cause those top level officials aren’t in charge of the security people, the security people are receiving orders from people loyal to Trump I imagine. So they’re being told by their bosses to get rid of these other high level people and to let the DOGE people do what they want.

Never cause Trump’s people are now running the 3 letter organizations and are happy to let all this happy, hell the DoJ has even told Elon they’re happy to prosecute anyone who gets in the way of DOGE.

Would love for that to happen but with the DoJ recently telling Elon they’d be happy to prosecute anyone getting in the way of DOGE I doubt that any of that is gonna happen.

I mean the problem is the people in charge of the people who would stop people from doing this are on board with Elon. So they’re gonna be ordered to let them do their thing and to stop the employees there from interfering. We’re running into the problem of how do you enforce the laws against government officials when all the people with power are on the side of the people breaking the laws.

100% this is just cover for them wanting to have a monopoly on the sexy content of their characters. Cause the main appeal of these games seems to be how sexy the characters are so if you could go to some other website and look at them there instead then you wouldn’t need to buy the game.

Yeah except Democrats are generally too cowardly to actually go that far. The most we’ll probably see is lots of lawsuits against the federal government from blue states like during the last Trump admin.

That’s definitely a problem but that hasn’t stopped DSA members/endorsed candidates from winning elections at the local level. Which I think is really the only way a party can build momentum, starting from the bottom and working up. And I mean a labor party would have the same issue because as soon as any kind of left of Democrats party gains momentum the media will immediately start attacking them as socialist. So that’s just a problem that needs to be challenged by showing the popular things we would want to do and fighting back against the stigma associated with that cause no matter what that stigma is gonna be there.

If you’re interested in that you can always check out the DSA and see if they have a local chapter in your area. They’re not a political party right now but imo if anything is gonna form a true labor third party in the US it will most likely come from there.
