I know you’re referring to the folks referenced in the topic, but it’s best not to put that as a general statement. I’m not going to comment on political inclusivity, but there are still ways to be more inclusive and broaden perspectives. For example, a lot of women feel unwelcome here, and probably a lot of people from the disabled community, among others.

I’m sure in addition to what’s happening right now being indefensible even to the most in-denial people out there (at least out of those who want to be able to believably claim they care at all about human rights), it helps that in the UK at least, cases have been moving forward against war criminals with dual citizenship. (Identified “veterans” of the genocidal campaign have been charged elsewhere as well but I haven’t heard how those cases are progressing yet.)

I’m Canadian, so no I’ve never voted for any US candidate. I didn’t advocate any particular kind of political action (or non-action) in my comment except not to drive people away if you want to have them on your side.

What simpler point can there possibly be than “Alienating people doesn’t earn you their support; it’s better to build trust and win them over”? The basic reality is that people don’t all think the same way, so they have to be met where they’re at.

Punching down by portraying people you theoretically want on your side as villains is not a winning strategy for anyone left of centre. Dividing people only helps the right, no matter who is doing it. I don’t even think ordinary folks who’ve been conned into believing (Maple) MAGA-esque propaganda should automatically be bashed in every case-- just persons in positions of significant power. The priority should always be to seek opportunities to genuinely win folks over.

If I were in the US, I’d be transferring funds to another financial institution so the info they have isn’t up to date. At least that might buy some time in case things get even crazier?

*edit - that does nothing for the people expecting Social Security payments though of course. I only hope they aren’t affected.

I’m also considering alternatives to Proton myself. I’ve seen the privacy-oriented communities give a bunch of options. Search “Privacy” and you’ll see them listed. Tuta probably isn’t bad as a paid account but the free app left a lot to be desired the last time I checked (no message search or sorting like Proton).

Unfortunately those two sets of interests typically aren’t mutually exclusive (except for protectionism or the rare case like that which might hamper trade), so he could largely do both.
