Summary

A new YouGov poll reveals widespread disapproval of President Trump’s recent tariff policies, with 51% of Americans viewing them as “the largest peacetime tax hike in U.S. history.”

The survey shows 50% disapprove of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs announced April 2nd, which imposed a baseline 10% levy on all imports with additional tariffs on specific countries.

Trump escalated tensions by threatening China with 50% additional tariffs if they don’t withdraw their retaliatory measures.

Even Ted Cruz expressed concern, calling tariffs “a tax on consumers.”

Those survey results look like the election results.

The GOP won’t actually feel the burn until the low information voters start getting laid off and start laying evening higher prices in stores. It’s too early for that to happen, but it will happen if Trump stays the course.

This is far from “widepread disapproval”. This is about the same distribution that brought that loony into the White House - about half the population.

If 51% disapprove, 49% are still too dumb or numb. We need more, much more pain to fix that.

So what? The election is over for at least another 18 months or 3 1/2 years - if there is another full election. Doesn’t matter now that Trump already had their vote and won. 99.9% can disapprove and nothing will change.

Presidents have been impeached. And, know what? The people ARE the government. Don’t forget that!

Nothing will change because of a poll. A lot can change if people organize, get out in the streets and take direct action.

Polls are bullshit. They are not news. It all depends on who is running the poll. The result is based on that alone. Polls are statistically insignificant no matter what they tell you the error percentage rate is.

    Having said that…fuck trump.

Trump doesn’t care, he doesn’t have to face another election again. Oh, he’s still planning on being President for the rest of his life, but not planning on having to win another election to do it…
