Miller thanked Trump for "saving the GOP" just days after the Democrats' swept control of Congress in the midterms.

Donald Trump’s new White House Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller, said the Republican Party is “more popular than ever,” just days after voters handed Democrats control of the House and Senate the midterm elections.

Miller said in his speech that it was “the privilege of a lifetime to join President Trump,” before adding: “If it wasn’t for President Trump, the United States of America would not exist right now.”

“This man saved America,” Miller said. “He saved our military from collapse, he saved our economy from destruction, he saved our border from annihilation and he saved our country from threats at home and abroad which would have been the end of the American dream forever.”

      Longer…

The memo – called, simply enough, “A Plan For Putting the GOP on TV News” – is included in a 318-page cache of documents detailing [Roger] Ailes’ work for both the Nixon and George H.W. Bush administrations that we obtained from the Nixon and Bush presidential libraries. Through his firms REA Productions and Ailes Communications, Inc., Ailes served as paid consultant to both presidents in the 1970s and 1990s, offering detailed and shrewd advice ranging from what ties to wear to how to keep the pressure up on Saddam Hussein in the run-up to the first Gulf War.

The memo explains why television was the way to go:

Today television news is watched more often than people read newspapers, than people listen to the radio, than people read or gather any other form of communication. The reason: People are lazy. With television you just sit—watch—listen. The thinking is done for you.

Ailes started Fox News because Nixon had to resign after Watergate. They figured if they could create their own news and talk about whatever they wanted, their voters would think what they were told to think.

Then in the 90s the oligarchs bought the only other options, and one of the first things the Clintons and Biden did was take a chainsaw to telecommunication regulations…

Don’t fucking give credit to Bannon like he has a masterful insight. This was obvious and in plain sight, the literal memo saying they were gonna do it entered into Nixon’s presidential library, and even more updates from HW’s

It’s the main reason Trump will likely never have one and is paranoid about flushing memos down toilets.

The big reason it’s going so poorly is the plan was for someone like Jeb to be in office. trump just inserted himself into an existing plan like a cuckoo egg.

      All super fucking obvious
