Any school that takes public funding should not be allowed to turn away any student that wishes to enroll. You don’t get to pick and choose if you take my god damn tax payer money.

It’s not as cut and dry.

There are schools for the deaf and/or blind.

The real solution is separating church from education entirely.

Everyone gets public school, if you want to send them to an after hours system like CDC (what Catholics have) or something else in addition to normal school, then that shouldn’t be publicly funded in any way.

We had a Catholic k-8 feed into our highschool, and it’s not like the kids were dumb, but they had huge gaps in their knowledge. It’s literal religious indoctrination, and even if the kid grows up to leave that religious group, the values, rules and notes are still being forced into impressionable minds.

It’s always projection with the right, their worried that some day we’ll stop letting them get away with indoctrinating their own kids, and if that happens their religious extremism dies out in a generation or two.

Once that happens it’s I almost impossible to build back up, they need adults who grew up in that system to want to continue it.

        Absolutely.

Same goes with any private school.

Fully fund the public schools, and if someone wants their kids going to some elitist private school, that’s up to them to pay for themselves.

Tbh, as someone hard of hearing, idgaf if the hearing want to go to a school for the deaf so long as the deaf are prioritized. Schools for the disabled also pass strict scrutiny in why they need to prioritize one group over another (general education will provide a significantly worse outcome for the disabled than specialized schooling, while abled children won’t experience that)
