I saw some video years ago about why hover cars are incapable of stopping. Which means they are pointless as a means for transportation, for the most part.

When something is in the air, there is little you can do to put on the brakes.

Even a jet has to land first, then brake the wheels.

It’s just like a boat being in the water but worse.

There is no way to quickly maneuver nor stop.

The bigger it is, the worse this problem becomes.

Also unlike a boat which still has some semblence of a plane to balance on. Something in the air can rotate 360° in every axis.

Meaning it’s very easy for it to flip over.

Unlike a wave making a boat rise a bit or tip a little to the side, a big gust of wind could flip a hover car over.

The only way to fully resolve that problem would be multiple propulsion jets on every side.

If only there was a way to have 4 or more sources of thrust to balance, giving you full control over your orientation…

I’m calling it the tetracopter. It’s my idea, no one steal it

But would such a thing work on a larger heavy vehicle holding weight that shifts around inside ?

By using multiple redundant gyroscopes and a chip to adjust the thrust to each propeller hundreds of times a second. I hear the wimote has cheap accelerometers that can work, but once it catches on I’m sure people will make specialized boards for this
