He’s not a particularly well-known figure outside of streaming platforms, but I’ll quote a previous post I wrote to give an attempt at a rounded impression of him. It’s from another thread so there’s some parts of it that might look a bit less relevant to this one, but here it is:

"I think everyone who knows some about him will have an opinion on him - I’d call him divisive. I’ll try to give a relatively neutral rundown - I’m not a historian or researcher on this subject so my knowledge is likely to have holes.

I don’t have time to treat this like a dissertation or adding citations, but I’ll try to present things as neutrally as I can and then you (or anyone else reading) can decide to further research any of the points as you see fit. I am not the final authority on this, just someone who’s dug a little more into this than the average person, and who has no strong feelings for or against the person in question.

He is a political twitch streamer. He ties himself to, and uses the language of, the far left and related candidates. He backs and campaigns for progressive candidates which often raises awareness and donation for them, but the effect seems to be limited - some candidates he backs does well and others do not. He also seems to make plenty of statements that directly contradicts the candidates he backs and campaign for, causing some of them to try to distance themselves from him.

He appears to be well-versed in U.S. electoral politics, media framing, and progressive political arguments, which tracks with his bachelor’s degree in political science and communication studies from Rutgers from 2013. Being a streamer he ends up talking about a lot of related subjects, in which he often has to give off-the-cuff opinions and takes, which can often fall well-short of informed or accurate.

He says his end goal is communism. He got his start as a content creator in his uncle’s online news channel (The Young Turks), before later splitting off from them and doing his own streaming business. He is from a very affluent family, personally earns a lot of money and he clearly lives an affluent lifestyle. He claims to thrift for designer clothes but when pressed appears to reference outlet stores and similar. Initially he claimed that he doesn’t want his regular thrift stores to get raided by fans, although his fans might be less affluent than him and therefore better served by access to these stores. He has done several very successful charity streams that amassed large amounts of money for good causes. He claims to donate great amounts of money to charities, although the amount of donated money that can be tied to him is very low for his level of wealth, somewhere between 77.000 - 80.000 USD total (0,5-1%) of his estimated wealth, which is 8-14 million USD. While he does not appear to put his money where his mouth is, he does spend some of his time on popular fundraising, which drives a lot of attention to both him and the causes he fund-raise for.

He is often abrasive in his communication, although he will excuse that with passion for the subjects he talk about. He has a large audience that aggressively attacks dissenters or people Hassan expresses dislike for or disagreement with. The harassment from his fan base appears to be significantly above and beyond the norm for the space, and while he comments to the contrary it would be hard to believe that he is unaware of the dynamic between him and his fan base. From what I can tell he has taken no steps towards solving this dynamic beyond disavowing some instances of the harassment, while condoning other instances. He does not appear to have a problem with lying about people or broadcasting random people (even known malicious actors, that he himself states to be malicious) on twitter or twitch if it fits his narrative.

He often breaks the rules of his streaming platform (twitch) but receives special treatment, although I am unsure if that is due to personal popularity or personal relationships with the owner of twitch.

He denies using a shock collar on his dog, but looking at the evidence gathered through old videos, still frames from new videos, and from people who personally interacted with the dog would suggest that to be a lie. I do not know if he still uses a shock collar on his dog since the latest controversy.

As said, feel free to research each of these points, but do be critical of the sources of information and try to just find the actual evidence of what was done or said, rather than peoples’ conclusions. He is divisive so when people give their take they usually either dismiss all the criticism and focus on the things he does well, or dismiss the things he does well and focus on the criticism.

Find all the evidence you can and make up your own mind."

Now, as for this case it looks like Hasan Piker is substantially more correct than Scott Jennings. Snopes did a good write up of the evidence, so I’d recommend looking at that directly, if you care about the issue.

Shock collars don’t even work on dogs like Kaya. Their fur is too thick around their neck. You’ve completely fallen for a smear campaign.

That is untrue. If the shock collar has the wrong types of prongs or if it is poorly fitted, it might not reach the skin well enough to make constant contact meaning that at some presses it wouldn’t work very well, but you can get models that will make contact even with thick fur.

You can’t simply dismiss the point without willfully, or otherwise, ignoring how shock collars do and do not work.

Now, based on the video where Hasan Piker gave us the best look at the shock collar, the best match would be the Educator RX-090, as confirmed by their own support team. Feel free to check this link, scrolling down to the section named “What the manufacturer’s support says”. The whole article gives a decent rundown of the evidence as well, but it’s a longer read.

This particular model might be an “extra poor” choice for Kaya given that Tibetan Mastiffs do tend to have doublecoated furs with a thick, whooly undercoat, but that is a common mistake people make when buying shock collars.

You people are so fucking dumb.

There is no way those prongs would hit Kaya’s skin. I know that because I have a family member with the exact same brand of collar. Those prongs are pretty short, and you wouldn’t even fucking bother. It is an excellent noisemaker for the dog. You can use it for long-range calling. It makes a loud beep and buzzes really well, and pretty much every dog is going to react to that.

Combine that with the “evidence” given, anyone that believes he shocked his dog is dumber than a box of nails. Wow, someone here said they looked at stillframes! Motherfuckers do the exact same thing as moon landing denialists and flat earthers do. It is insane to me that a fucking 15 second clip is groundbreaking evidence these fucking mouthbreathers give for a thing that even if it was true, would be relatively fucking minor to them, but goddamn do they fall for the same shit every time.

That’s quite the angry rant. I’ll try to filter out the personal attacks and focus on the substance.

You can claim that the collar would be a bad fit for Kaya and I’d agree, but the images taken from Hasan’s own streams make it hard to claim that it isn’t the Educator RX 090.

You could claim he might be better served with a vibration collar, which is what Hasan changed his story to, but this one is shock capable, and there would be no reason to buy a shock capable collar unless you intend to use the shock capability.

But my claim is that he used a shock collar on his dog, not that he used one that was a good fit for shocking his dog. That’s moving the goalpost, if not an outright straw man.

I don’t recall hearing a loud beep when it went off, but feel free to bring evidence to the contrary and I can use your standard of evidence to dig further.

You can go on a tirade about evidence but it doesn’t get much more concrete than stills or clips from Hasan Piker’s own streams.

And to clarify: I do not find animal abuse minor, and I certainly think shock collars are animal abuse. But that’s also trying to move the goalpost, once again.

Nah dude. That fucking collar is a vibration collar. It also has shock capabilities, dingdong. You can put in and remove the fucking prongs really easily. I have seen the exact same fucking collar. But if you don’t remove the prongs, you wouldn’t fucking touch the dogs skin with that collar because those prongs were made for smaller dogs, but the vibrations and noise would be fine because those don’t rely on skin contact. The fact that this doesn’t matter to you is evident. It didn’t make a noise in whatever clip you are talking about is because they didn’t use it.

Damn, I am on fucking fire answering these. What’s your next fucking curveball? “Oh yeah, if I’m a paste eater, how come I’m all out of paste?” Donate money to an animal shelter and tell people to stop going to pet breeders. You would do more for animals that way than whatever the fuck you think you’re doing here.

A collar with vibration and shock is a shock collar. A collar without shock but is a vibration collar.

The representative from the producer of the collar, that image and video evidence match, indicated that the prongs had been improperly removed and the opening taped over, instead of using a padded replacement cover for the underside, which they also sell. Indicating a rush job to hide the shock prongs.

Hasan has also had a guest who commented on the collar being very tight (“can’t even fit one finger” was the quote), which would make sense for using a poorly fitted shock collar, which this one would be indeed.

So my claim is that Hasan used a poorly fitting shock collar. Maybe because he bought the wrong one or because he used one he already had, and he had to over tighten it to get it to somewhat work. And that he used a shock collar on his dog.

Hasan also changed his story several times as well. He started by claiming it wasn’t a shock collar, to them later claiming that it was a shock collar but that he had the prongs removed. I believe he changed it further, but those are the most relevant I believe.

It’s the same conspiracy shit every time with the same shitty evidence. This isn’t even difficult to counter, it would only convince the twelve year olds that make up Destiny and H3h3’s audience.

indicated that the prongs had been improperly removed and the opening taped over, instead of using a padded replacement cover for the underside, which they also sell. Indicating a rush job to hide the shock prongs.

It does not indicate that. It does not disprove that, but it doesn’t fucking indicate that. You know what it indicates? That it was improperly removed. Okay.

Do you think he had fucking seconds to “hide” the evidence? Those things require very little time to remove. But he had to rush to hide the evidence that he himself provided??? Are you requiring a refill on that glue???

Hasan has also had a guest who commented on the collar being very tight (“can’t even fit one finger” was the quote), which would make sense for using a poorly fitted shock collar, which this one would be indeed.

Or. Or. Or…, that he used a collar that was intended for smaller dogs. The one thing you can point out is that the guest did say the collar was tight. That’s fucking it. And it’s weird that he was able to “hide the evidence” of the shock prongs, but he didn’t just hide the whole fucking collar or anything else. It’s the fucking fascist mindset, where he is simultaneously smart enough to hide the evidence, but dumb enough not to hide the same evidence.

Hasan also changed his story several times as well. He started by claiming it wasn’t a shock collar, to them later claiming that it was a shock collar but that he had the prongs removed. I believe he changed it further, but those are the most relevant I believe.

Damn, dude. So many fucking changes. How could you keep up, two is a really big number for you! If you don’t use it as a shock collar, I wouldn’t call it a shock collar. And he didn’t. It’s not a shock collar to me, even if it has shock capabilities, if it doesn’t have prongs. That’s pretty fucking logical to me, it only wouldn’t be if I dropped bricks on my head for fun. Is that not logical to you? Ask your mom if that makes sense, she hasn’t heard from you in a while.

Explain to me why he bothered to dispose of the evidence so poorly but also not at all with all the time he had. Because he had fucking months to dispose of the evidence (remember, that clip was a couple months old before it went viral for this fake conspiracy shit.)

Whether he did or did not spread a rumour is entirely irrelevant, because nothing I presented relied on any rumours from anywhere. The evidence was taken from Hasan Piker’s videos and I could verify that.

              Stop working for these people.

Dan Saltman is a tech entrepreneur and political podcaster who leverages his platform to advance Zionist interests, targeting pro-Palestine voices and justifying Israel’s ongoing settler-colonial project in occupied Palestine.

As founder of TinyChat — a video chat platform acquired in 2014 after receiving $1.5 million in funding from Sean “Diddy” Combs, amid allegations of its use in predatory behavior — Saltman built his career in online communications. He now serves as CEO of Redact.dev, a service that deletes users’ digital footprints, which he promotes amid his own involvement in online activism. Saltman co-hosts the “Anything Else” podcast with Steven Bonnell II (Destiny), where he discusses politics and amplifies pro-Israel views to Western audiences.

Saltman has repeatedly portrayed pro-Palestine advocacy as support for terrorism, directly accusing streamer Hasan Piker of promoting “terrorist propaganda” and “Hamas recruitment videos.” In September 2025, he endorsed calls to ban Piker from Twitch, claiming Piker’s content encourages violence and supports terrorist organizations, while framing criticism of Israel as antisemitism. This rhetoric dehumanizes Palestinians by equating their resistance to Israel’s occupation with inherent threats, perpetuating consent for settler violence.

Saltman orchestrated a widespread disinformation campaign against Twitch, accusing the platform of fostering antisemitism by allowing pro-Palestine speech. He mobilized supporters to pressure advertisers, leading to temporary pauses in spending by companies like JPMorgan and AT&T in late 2024. This effort aimed to suppress voices critical of Israel’s actions in Gaza, where the confirmed death toll exceeds 40,000 — a conservative estimate, as Israel’s destruction of infrastructure and targeting of journalists has halted accurate counting, with the actual number slaughtered well into the hundreds of thousands. Saltman’s actions align with broader Zionist efforts to weaponize antisemitism accusations against dissent, shielding Israel from scrutiny over its apartheid policies and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and Gaza.

His associations extend to content creators like Ethan and Hila Klein of the H3 Podcast and Destiny’s community, with whom he has collaborated on attacks against Piker, viewing him as a threat due to his effective advocacy for Palestinian liberation. Saltman’s push to repeal Section 230 appears motivated by a desire to further censor online criticism of Israel. Twitch banned him indefinitely in November 2024 for “extreme harassment,” including doxxing and targeting employees who refused to comply with his demands.

This pattern of behavior is not isolated but part of a consistent effort to normalize Israel’s settler-colonialism, obscure Palestinian suffering under occupation and genocide, and manufacture public consent for ongoing violence.

I don’t see how Dan Altman is relevant to any evidence I’ve brought fourth - I didn’t use him as a base for any of my evidence, nor reference them in any claims. Can you tell me how he’s relevant to the subject at hand? (Hasan Piker)

What the fuck are you talking about? No one said shit about Sam Altman here.

This is also how I know you’re arguing in bad faith. Destiny, Dan Saltman, and Hasan have extensive history together.

Firstly: I don’t really see how Hasan Piker having history with other streamers is relevant to anything I am writing about?

Can you clarify what you’re getting at, and how Hasan Piker having history with other online personalities invalidates anything I have written, all of which ostensibly does not seem to have anything to do with that?

And secondly: Can you tell me how I am arguing in “bad faith” (i.e. NOT arguing from a genuine examination of the issue), when I tend to give evidence for my case, clearly referencing actual research done, rather than just repeating something I’ve been told (without evidence)? Quick clarification: that last part is not an accusation that you are just repeating something you’ve been told - I have no proof of that and I am still hoping that you show anything you have to actually back up your beliefs.

I really don’t mean to be offensive or mean, but I think if have the option to take a moment to re-read some of the messages and look up the definition of “bad faith” arguments you are likely to see that either; A: I have in fact been arguing in good faith, and/or B: You might not have been entirely aware what it means to argue in “Bad Faith”.

but at a cursory glance I don’t see a link between anything I’ve linked and them

You didn’t even take a single glance if you couldn’t see a single link between them.

I’ve already linked you to several sources now. I suggest you read them.

I’ve read everything you’ve linked, and I see the link between Saltman, Destiny and Piker, but not any link to anything I was writing about Hasan.

It all seems very unrelated to the points I brought up.

                Thank you for the links.

For the first link: I don’t see the relevance. It talks about starting a rumor, but I do not reference any rumoring in my posts. I reference try my best to reference things with factual evidence backing it up. Can you help clarify how it is relevant? - I already know Hasan Piker is divisive he’s seen as a boogeyman to some and a savior to others, and this just seems to reinforce that, but nothing else.

For the second link: What part was the relevant one? - The part where they briefly talk about the shock collar issue, but doesn’t actually address any evidence for or against? I’ll be honest, I don’t really see the relevance for the rest. It just seems to be a negatively slanted video about Destiny and Sam Altman, which isn’t really relevant to what Hasan has or has not actually done.

On an interesting but separate note, I find the editing of this video interestingly similar to the CNN video that cause Hasan Piker to sue Scott Jennings - I truly feels like the editing of some of the video-clips they use are pushing a very clear narrative, but one that doesn’t seem to be supported by the clips they use, or at least wouldn’t be if the full clip was shown. That said, I am not familiar with the original clips or particularly familiar with the people in question, so I can’t speak to anything other than the video-making style used for the video, which is something I am familiar with, as I have worked with storytelling in editing via my profession.

Never once cared, heard, anything Dan Saltman said. I saw it with my own eyes. I saw Piker change his story on this as well. Not exactly a good sign.

I highly encourage you to stop perceiving the world through the lens of a twitch chat and simping for streamers.

If you care about politics, you should care about Dan Saltman.

                https://reversecanarymission.org/person/dan-saltman

I’m not really going to speak to vanity or narcissism - I’m not sure I know where to begin validating that, or what my standard of evidence would have to be for that, especially for someone like Hasan who spends so much of his time in front of a live audience.

The shock collar however does seem very well-documented, or at least as well-documented as it gets without Piker himself coming out and fully admitting to it.

I don’t know why that one is so hard to accept for someone who is a fan of him. I don’t understand why we should only acknowledge the good people do, and not the wrong.

I think because unfortunately this extends beyond fandom and more into the realm of (a) zealotry, (b) fan-craze / simping / lusting, and/or ( c) Astroturfing bot networks intended to amplify support and suppress dissent. People like Piker are useful to certain groups to advance their own agenda. No different than the likes of Charlie Kirk or Tucker Carlosn or Asmongold, just for different people.

If you’re in one of these groups, then ceding any ground whatsoever is a non-starter.

Perhaps there’s an intersection between several of those elements. There certainly seems to be some level of ideological capture going on, and, I’d argue, some cult of personality elements to it as well.

I’ll admit, I’m not as versed in the political aspects of it all. I’m not entirely sure who supports which groups and what exactly each of their stated or unstated goals are, but it seems clear to me that there’s some level of intentional narrative being spun and manipulated, even if I don’t know by who or for what. It’s just too aggressively managed and curated to not be entirely intentional.

Maybe I’ll have to look more into it at some point.

Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson both so seem to have/had people they are/were beholden to, but I’m also certain they mostly do what they do to further their own wealth and influence.

Asmongold I’m only peripherally knowledgeable of, but he just seems like he’s bottoms-upped whatever isolationist and xenophobic koolaid he found.

I know he was a game streamer originally but it seems like he’s well into far-right political ideology now, is that right?

This thread isn’t political in nature. It’s about Hasan Piker suing Scott Jennings - which is not a political but a judicial issue. You could call it tangential if you want, given that Hasan Piker is mostly known for political streaming.

I was interested in what that was about, so I read up on it and decided to look into it and then came back to read comments, including the one asking who Hasan Piker is. Given that that is something I happened to have already answered elsewhere, I copied my previous answer.

I don’t believe I’ve given any false or inaccurate information, nor is it baseless as I do try to add proof when requested, even if I don’t front-load it in every reply as that would take an age especially considering nobody else does so either, but feel free to bring evidence if you find any contradicting any of my points.

Did I also spread misinformation when I wrote that Hasan Piker seems to have it right with the facts of his lawsuit?

You can try to discredit me baselessly, but that would be misinformation, bordering on disinformation.

No worries. Happy to help. If you’re still interested I encourage you to do your own research and not take my word for it. Just be aware that he is both is both a republican boogeyman, and simultaneously, has a bit of a cult of personality built up around him on the other end of the spectrum, so nuanced takes are hard to come by.
