“Liberate”? From the fate of being constantly bombarded by the russians? Who am I kidding, they will continue to bombard it regardless.

Eastern Ukraine generally supports Russia over Kiev, which is why the Ukrainian Civil War was going on for a decade prior to Russia’s entry. From most people’s perspective, this is liberation for them. The Ukrainian hardliners have generally moved westward, those that remain are generally waiting for Russia’s advance.

While eastern Ukraine was always more pro-russian, the argument that a majority or even a sizable minority supported the annexation by russia is a russian lie. The separatist movement that led to the donbas war was majorly influenced by russian forces, as the former FSB agent Igor Girkin himself admitted.

It’s completely understandable that the people that saw their elected president overthrown by fascists would want to secede.

I am still waiting for any tangible evidence that Ukraine is or was in the last 20 years controlled by fascists to any extend.

Closer ties to European imperialists simply for profits for the capitalist class in Europe and compradors in Ukraine were supported by far-right nationalists that uphold Stepan Bandera. Going with the EU over the much better Russian offer was purely a move to sell out the country to imperialism, and this saw widespread protect in Eastern Ukraine, which supported Yanukovych:

The language suppression isn’t disproven, even though European imperialists desperately wish it wasn’t. More Russian speakers live in Eastern Ukraine, and thus the nationalists taking power and oppressing them caused a schism:

The entire Ukrainian military is right-wing, but special units like Azov retain their neonazi heritage:

No idea why you’re batting for fascists so hard.

Okay, let’s assume you’re right. After all, it would be very weird for any government not to have any involvement in a civil war occurring along it’s border.

Why were there already separatists to be influenced? Why should accepting help from people you identify more with against people trying to kill you for that identity somehow discredit your struggle in the eyes of western spectators? How is this qualitatively different from Iran firing missiles into the zionist entity (Ukraine’s self-declared role model btw) on behalf of Palestine?
