During and immediately following CANSEC 2026 in late May, Airbus demonstrated the ability of the H145M and H175M for all three phases on nTACS, including for the special operations forces. Leonardo, too, would likely propose one or both of its AW249 and AW149 platforms if an open competition were held.
During a recent media briefing in France, Airbus Helicopters said its H175M could be manufactured in Canada if it was selected for nTACS.
“We think we have the perfect products to [replace the Griffon], and we have the capacity in Airbus — and with the supply chain, the aerospace capability in Canada — to do major developments in Canada,” Matthieu Louvot, president and CEO of Airbus Helicopters, told journalists.

These are to fire drones, not the same as fending off drones. if your going to “um actually” me, actually counter the point.
These are support weapons
You clearly do not have even a rudimentary concept of Combined Arms, everything works in a system of support, there is no Trump card and if you think drones are it and you are actually confident and unyielding about it you are a dangerous idiot.
Also helicopters have been and are being used as we speak for counter drone uses. See the UH-1Y and AH-1Z guarding NATO bases in Europe against drones, see the incredibly diverse use of the AH-64E in counter drone operations all over the world.
This is what is so exhausting about talking about war, you fools who think you understand something that makes all of warfare up until this point obsolete will not shut up and it isn’t like any of us want you to have to experience it for yourself so you will finally shut up… war is awful full stop… so what are we to do but keep patiently explaining how terribly and dangerously wrong you are?
Participating in these false narratives leads to real policy choices that will get real people killed needlessly because the entire approach to thinking about the problem came from someone who projected the fact that they have a hammer onto a situation that really didn’t have many nails.

Than maybe you shouldn’t be posting this stuff /s
I don’t think a bunch of lemmings speculating one way or another is gonna move the needle on this particular matter. Clearly the military industrial complex isn’t listening or else our tax dollars wouldn’t be funding israel turning palestinian kids into skeletons.
Sure but by focusing on this as the final defense to an argument you have admitted it is wrong and now you are just trying to recenter the narrative on to the fact that this was all a waste of time which again ok sure but also, the argument is still dangerously wrong.
Troll me all you want, my victory point scoring system isn’t dependent on how silly I look.
I can kinda get behind this. Drones don’t completely invalidate tanks and helis, but they do diminish their former importance. Tanks as mobile artillery, are better served in most cases by actual mobile artillery. Helicopters serving as launch vehicles for drones and cruise missiles are better served in most cases by land or jet based deployment vehicles, or even larger drone motherships. You and your detractors both have a point that is perhaps overstated, but not wrong.
On that topic here is another perfect example of my point but in the context of a Main Battle Tank role rather than Air Cavalry.

The result is additive, it isn’t this childish Advance Wars style matchup between two weapons where there is a strict rock-papers-scissors relationship… that is NOT how war works now and it isn’t how war has really ever worked in truth.
The MOST frustrating thing is that this cycle itself, the whole exhausting damn thing of everybody becoming convinced the newest weapon of war makes everything that happened before obsolete and irrelevant… is perhaps the oldest repeating nightmare of war and overconfident idiots never ever seem to recognize that until it is too late.
Again, a partial truth. The problem I was getting at is that an Abrams serves many functions, but is a very expensive platform. Your example shows how drones can extend tanks functionality, not be replaced by it. True. I fully conceed your point.
I just wanted to speak to expense of an abrams as non line of sight mobile artillery enabled by drone vs just two drones, or a drone and a mobile missile system etc, or a pickup truck based technical etc…
Drones complement an Abrams in one sense, but the expensive few vs the many cheap mantra needs to be reevaluated across the combined arms philosophy.
You do not understand what a Main Battle Tank is at a fundamental level, and again are falling into the thinking trap that war is like Advance Wars and a Tank is a specific unit you buy with an associated cost to be abstractly compared against performance and a discrete rock paper scissors relationship to the other singular units on the map.
Everybodies’ plan is to flank, surround and overwhelm the expensive, powerful few of the enemy through cleverness, extensive planning, coordination, valuing of human lives on both sides and through the leveraging of mass waves of cheap tools that have uses outside of war unlike Main Battle Tanks which are unbelievably expensive and an absolute pain in the ass while being useless during peacetime.
So yeah lets do that… or rather Ukraine has already done that at certain sections of the front up to a point of saturation and diminishing returns and now it has become clear to the Ukrainian forces that the russians must be struck at a specific weak point and smashed with absolute force there in order to cascade a set of larger failures that result in large scale collapse and surrender of russian forces.
There are two options for motivating who is ever given the job to be the spearhead of that attack, either you do the fascist/German/russian/dictator/whatever strategy of demanding that nothing else will work but human bodies as armor while distracting your troops with a worship of war machines… this endless obsession with light armor or no armor with fascists is so boring and stupid…

or you field trained battalions of Abrams-like and Bradley-like mechanized armor (that know they are genuinely supported) that can hit those points of decisiveness like a force of nature and do it in a way that has the best chance of keeping the people doing it who are asked to carry out the will of an abstract entity such as a country alive and able to go home.
You are mistaking the drill bit for the entire drill rig. You keep drill bits around for when you need to drill through solid rock, not as general use tools like shovels or buckets.
Remember when the French were so confident in the effectiveness of their heavy cavalry only to get mowed down and routed by a bunch of conscript archers with longbows? Pepperage Farms remembers.
I will admit I’ve been very interested in the concept of helicopters as drone carriers. Not necessarily just as launch vehicles but also as a mobile operator hub, reducing range constraints between operators and drones. Yes, it does raise the risk level for the operators, but they’re likely still maintaining non-trivial distance from the actual combat theatre
