Rachel Maddow warned viewers on Monday that President Donald Trump plans to interfere with midterm election results, following the Supreme Court’s recent 7-2 ruling against his executive order instructing the US Postal Service (USPS) to block states from distributing and collecting mail-in ballots.
Trump’s order, which he signed last March, would’ve directed the USPS to refuse to deliver mail-in ballots to anyone whose information hadn’t been properly submitted to a new state citizenship list maintained by the federal government.
“Trump is counting on confusion, uncertainty, and a lack of confidence in the mail-in voting system to suppress voter turnout,” she said.
In 2024 maybe 10,000 people voted in person at Honolulu Hale. People waited in line almost 3 hours to cast their votes. Only 10,000 votes out of 300k. And it was a headline making mess. We don’t have the infrastructure for in person voting, because that’s not how voting is set up to work here. Why are you lying to people about this?
Its practically and physically impossible, and deeply irresponsible to tell people to not vote the way our election system is set up to work. We vote by mail in Honolulu. Use the system as intended. Put your ballot in the mail.

If you dont utilize those options, and wait until the last day to vote, you have chosen to wait in line to vote. You are misinformed. You are hurting yourself and your community if you are the one causing lines to stay long and disencouraging others to vote because they dont want to wait in a line with you.
Do your part. Vote early so you dont make the line longer on Election Day. Dont wait until Nov 3rd to cast your ballot.

Its fucking irrelevant that people can vote earlier because they don’t. They wait till the last minute and the system doesn’t have capacity to handle in person voting.
Actual people are imperfect. They don’t plan ahead. They’re busy. Reality is imthat they wait. And can you fucking blame them when your, allegedly, office pulls shit like they did with waters and ozawa in the fourth?
I talked to easily 2000+ voters canvassing for this primary. It is hard enough to get them to fucking fill out the fucking ballot that got mailed to their house. Introduce even a bit of additional friction and voting participation plummets.
