Well, and Chicago literally invented the political machine. It has a very deep rooted history of corrupt politics. Even is nickname “the windy city” is based on its politicians.
Unfortunately the culture of corruption runs so deep here that even our progressive politicians are subject to it.
Meanwhile New Mexico has the highest property crime rate and the second highest violent crime rate per capita.
Also, it seems that rural areas, per capita, often have some of the worst violent crime.
