$40T with an inflated but somehow still decreasing credit rating?

The band-aid solution is war, but the US has never won one…ever. So unless other countries want to help out—obvioiusly not, as the world has disaccharided itself strongly—the only hope is exercising the constitution for long-term recovery.
They won’t. But I don’t think the constitution was ever anything people would do anything about, just a comfy blanket from then until now.

They famously won one about 80 years ago. That said, they won in Serbia in the 90s too.
They seem to consistently win wars when they are allied to most of the world.
