After WWI the Brits controlled the area under mandate in the Treaty of Versailles. In 1917 the UK issued the Balfour Declaration pledging support for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine.
Post WWI, the Brits sponsored heavy Jewish immigration into Palestine. After WWII, they explicitly supported Israeli independence.
Not a fan of the brits either but which of the two do you think would have an impact if they pulled support tomorrow.
