It’s been a while so I’ll say it again.
I’m not a lawyer, but anyone saying “it’s time for the 25th amendment” doesn’t know shit about the 25th amendment. Here’s the text of section 4, which is the part that allows the president to be disempowered:
Section 4.
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.
If you’re illiterate or allergic to Constitution-speak, that means that the VP and a bunch of Cabinet members can get together and say “he can’t do the job, he’s not the President anymore”, but the President can just say “yes I can and yes I am” and it doesn’t count. If they really want to fight over it, it goes to Congress to decide, and if Congress wanted to get rid of Trump they would have already.
It’s not a viable option, and anyone telling you it is is badly misinformed at best.
If I’m reading it right the VP and Congress can then say “nuh-uh” in the third step of the process. Which is the same as the first step, no?
So if they decide to do it and he appeals they only have to do the same again. Why is that not valid?
A “nuh-uh” from the VP and Cabinet is what sends it to Congress.
White House reports discuss possible 25th Amendment removal of Donald Trump
This article has a misleading, clickbaity headline. They mean reporting on comments made by Dems, old guard Never Trump Republicans, and a former cabinet member about the White House, not a report coming from the White House. It’s the same whispers we hear every time Trump says something slightly more insane than usual.
I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the heritage crew are letting Trump go mental and ruin everything so they can drain his base and get rid of him for good while transferring everything over to the lab grown puppet of Vance.
They don’t exactly have any good choices now that Trump has truly gone off the deep end. Vance isn’t going to be able to inspire the rabid mob like Trump could, but he’s their only card to play.
They hooked all their hopes on Trump lasting a few more years and now they’re going to go down with him.
I think that’s why they’re letting him do all this war stuff going against all the stuff they voted for. It won’t jettisoned the true cultists but a lot of the less ardent MAGA followers will likely shift
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he steps down at any point before the next election with the promise of being fully pardoned by Vance.
Hahahaha only death will remove him. He won’t step down and Vance can’t take over Maga. Without Trump this all falls apart. So unless they have gotten everything in place that they are 100% sure they never have to worry about voting again. Trump not going anywhere. And if he dies before they are ready they have an AI version in the ready to go.
Exactly what Gerald Ford did.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets Epsteined. He knows a lot of things, or at least has access to a lot of information, and he has a bad habit of running his mouth. All it’d take is one unhinged tweet where he throws everyone else under the bus to put a lot of political careers into question.
It didn’t happen during the 4 years that he was out of office, I doubt it’s going to happen now.
They needed him to get back into the White House. He’s technically outlived his usefulness except that they lose maga when he’s gone.
If he got a Vance pardon, that’s exactly when I’d expect him to do it. He’s just narcissistic enough to be like “Ha! I won and you losers lost. Here’s all the names of the people who were fucking kids right alongside me, but I got pardoned and I’m untouchable. Good luck, losers.”
pardoned by Vance
theres a lot of sht Vance cant pardon him for… war crimes come to mind
That might matter if we had any intention of prosecuting him for those crimes. It should be pretty obvious by now that we don’t do that around here.
