Is it possible that Trump didn’t really want peace with Iran, and having Israel attack just gives us the perfect excuse to back away from peace with Iran, while allowing us to make Israel the scapegoat if the war doesn’t go the way we want it to?
Honestly, and I am in no way defending Trump with this, I think he’s too stupid and Netenyahu is too smart for that role reversal.
Trump is vain and I have no doubt that he wanted to be known as “the peace president”. If you watch the press conference that the GOP speaker gave, he noted “exquisite” intelligence, provided by Israel, that told the US that the time to act was now.
Personal Opinion: The Trump administration are incompetent and ill equipped for this type of diplomatic relationship (Israel). I think they got played like a fiddle by Israel.
