The Minnesota governor unexpectedly announced this month that he wouldn’t run for re-election.

Walz had said this month that he would not seek re-election as governor — sending shock waves through state and national politics — but he did not go so far as to say he would not consider another elected position down the line.

In explaining his decision Wednesday, Walz talked about the scenes unfolding in Minneapolis between residents and federal officers. He said he found that there are “heroes on the streets that we don’t know their names.”

“They’re never going to run for office, and those grass-tops leaders brought this administration to their knees this week to do something about it. So there’s other ways to serve, and I’ll find them,” he said.

    Good.

I’d argue that he should even announce intent to resign, but stay in office till a special election can seat a new governor.

    1. Lead

    2. Follow

    3. Get out of the way

“Hang out and chill” not being an option was a lesson even President Not Sure had to learn…

If he doesn’t have it in him to fight, I respect him getting out of the way. But announcing an intent to get out of the way later and preventing anyone else from leading is a bitch move

Can you substantiate your assertion he “doesn’t have it in him to fight” and that he intends to, “hang out and chill”?

        His lack of action

and that he intends to, “hang out and chill”?

That when he finally acted, it was to deploy the NG to hand out doughnuts and pacify protestors who are justifiably angry.

What do you think we gain by him staying in office?

I know you’re getting downvoted, but I agree. Fascists are killing his constituents in the streets and the whole calling their dictator “weird” or other witty names isn’t doing a damn thing.

Did you miss the fact that he deployed the MN National Guard to protect the protestors? The Guard handed out coffee and doughnuts to protesters and stood behind them at protests. They literally had their backs at the protest.

Too many people still just look at the letter by a politician’s name

Like, it really is commendable that he’s saying this early so others to plan to run. Streets ahead of Biden at least

It’s just not enough, Minnesota needs help now, and Walz has shown and now admitted he wont do what’s actually necessary.

So why the fuck is he running out the clock? If he wants to help, call a special election for his own seat and let the people of Minnesota get someone who will represent them.

What action are you expecting from him that he isn’t doing?

He’s no longer running because what’s happening is political retaliation for him running against Trump. Not because he’s doing a poor job

Have the state police arrest ICE agents for the crimes they’re committing, and for obstruction of justice.

Fucking Bovino was out running around, I know he’s hard to spot due to his size, but we could have snatched up that lil fascist leprechaun. Even if he beat the charges, “you can’t beat the ride” and this is one scenario the suspect actually deserves to get beat.

Fuck it, beat his ass and charge him for resisting.

We don’t have to like the system we have, but we’re fucking fighting fascists and they’re killing people on the streets.

Use the tools we have, and the Governor controls the state police. Same for Frey and the City Police

Also, if you aren’t running again then burn the fuckers against you to the ground. Who cares, right? You aren’t running again, do what’s right.
