“We’re going to run the country,” Trump said.
That was not a rhetorical flourish. It was a claim of extraordinary power, one that requires a clear legal explanation.
Not just a “legal explanation”…it also requires a physical mechanism to drive it. The US has no actual control over anything in Venezuela. They stormed in…snatched Maduro…and took him back to the US. That’s all.
They left no occupying presence there to coordinate their supposed “control” over the country. No one there is taking orders from US officials. There aren’t even any US officials there, to give orders.
Venezuela’s government is still intact and in place. The military is still taking their orders. Nothing on the ground there, has changed.
The US is anything but, “in charge”.
