Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said there will not be an amendment vote on extending expiring ObamaCare enhanced subsidies as part of a House Republican health care bill this week, in a move that is infuriating moderate Republicans who had been pushing to go on the record about the subsidies.
Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), one of the members who had been pushing for a vote to extend the subsidies that expire Dec. 31, fumed at the decision as he emerged from a House Republican Conference meeting Tuesday morning.
“I think it’s idiotic not to have an up-or-down vote on this issue,” Lawler said, adding: “It is political malpractice.”
Well, good thing Dems threw away their leverage for a vote that never happened. See, folks…this is what “winning” looks like.
FYI the vote did happen a few days ago. It just had the entirely predictable result of failing, since there was no longer any leverage for Republicans to vote for it
Democrats sold out for the promise of maybe a deal.
Complicit.
They knew damn well there would be no vote and no deal.
If you live in NY, consider primarying Schumer and Jeffries. They have got to go, true cancer.
I’ve never voted for Schumer once in my life. Lived in NY almost 35 of my 42 year life.
love ya for that, keep up the good work
So glad that the Democrats went ahead and passed the CR without any concessions on this. It worked out so great here!
Idiots.
I really hope every cunt capitulating to the Nazis gets primaried and removed from office
Don’t worry. The DNC members who were chosen by leadership are all retiring or not up for reelection any time soon.
I really am disappointed in everything right now too… unfortunately it seems that politicians are living in a world divorced from our reality. I really wish we would hold them accountable…they are OUR employees but they think they are in control of us.
I’m tired, boss

Obese Leopard eating the faces of the 8 Democrat sellouts.
Initiate plan B

If enough GOP Representatives are upset about it, they can either band with the Democrats to file a discharge petition to force a vote, the same way they did with the Epstein files. They could also move forward with a motion to unseat Speaker Johnson entirely. If they’re unwilling to do either then, quite frankly, I don’t want to hear about their crocodile tears.

To the volcano with you
tf is this
Can anybody help me out with exactly what this means? I helped my son do his insurance last night and it’s still showing a subsidy. Right now he has a $40 a month plan with a $400 subsidy. I know he’ll probably owe a penalty on that when/ if he does his taxes. It’s incredibly confusing!
I’m just going to sit here and enjoy the no deductible insurance provided to me by my blue state job, that costs me $10 a month after trading in vacation time to get a $110 discount each month. Mike Lawler voted against impeaching trump, again on 12/11/25. He voted yes to tabling impeachment in June of 2025 also. More performative bullshit from a rethuglican. Thoughts and prayers to the democrats in his district. Republicans in his district, along with him, can enjoy getting EXACTLY what they voted for. Lawler has that sweet sweet gubment insurance plan, so he’ll be fine. I’ll be waiting with the popcorn when his constituents turn on him.
Everyone who wanted the government to still be shut down, air travel crippled, and families hungry, we’re so sorry.
We had no idea the republicans would fuck up so bad that even their brain-dead cult gets angry at them.
