The son sounds like an absolute prick, tailgating through a gate then verbally abusing a guard when pulled up on it. I’d also like to know what exactly he was doing while on the payroll.
At what point does one think to themselves that they’ll help their son grift the government for $133k and think no one will notice?

The son does seem to have a lot of political skill and experience, being the leader of an organisation such as Toi Te Tiriti, so it’s entirely possible he was legitimately working.
But yeah, not a good look at all.
The article helpfully left that detail out… which kind of makes it smell a bit like a hit-piece.
Iwi are relatively small too, so everyone is somebody’s son/aunt/cousin… so finding someone within one’s iwi to do a job is always going to be a relative.
