The stupidity is not that America is ignorantly repeating history
The stupidity is that American is knowingly repeating history and thinking they can make it work for themselves this time
The other part of the stupidity is that everyone in the country is standing around hoping that it will go away by itself. That everyone everywhere believe that they have no power to do anything about it all and just hope that this will all end in some kind of Hollywood movie last minute Hail Mary event at the last possible moment and the world be saved by a hero, heroic group or just a plain old miracle.
