For sure it’s been an option since 7, but I feel like I remember there being a way to do something similar in XP.

I am like 97% sure it’s already just a macro key that simulates a press of win+ctrl+c or something like that that can be changed in the registry. They added a bunch of combos that open office apps and shit a while back.
But you can also just pin Terminal or any other app to your taskbar and then press win+[number desired pinned app is away from start button/search/task/whatever].

I’m confused, the Zune and Metro (pre Windows 8, Metro was introduced with the Zune HD and used in Windows Phone) are some of the better things Microsoft has ever produced.
If you said UMPCs, Cortana, Copilot+ I would understand.

Why upgrade when you can get another year of updates? You don’t even have to have a MS account if you know what large rocks to look under.

I mean… 20 years ago when we only had Xanga, MySpace, Friendster, LiveJournal, LinkedIn, and many others. Even Facebook is 21 years old now… though it didn’t become available for everyone for a couple years after that.

I still have my steam-less 1.6 installer somewhere.

Toxic masculinity is a hell of a drug.

My personal theory is that there is just so many people and so much land that one person can care about and that area is about the size and population of the average US state or European country. Once you get to the size of the US or China or Russia or even India it’s too big for people to care. Very few people in NYC give a shit about what is happening in LA on a day to day basis.

I grew up UU. It hasn’t changed how I feel about faith. I’m glad things are working out for you though.

You had me until the faith part. In my experience indifference is not the opposite of faith, compassion is.

IIRC there was a time when women had to have a higher score on the ASVAB to get the same positions as men.

These are the dangers of sans-serif fonts.

I’m more of a mind of if, in the highly unlikely event that, there ever was an intelligent creator they are long since dead or have moved on to other projects.

Do they think astronomy labs happen indoors or during the day? There is a lot of space shit happening in Texas for them to be this stupid about it…
I wonder if this includes football games too?

Unfortunately the answer is probably the inverse of one of the following questions;
Is Maddox white? Is Maddox rich?

What justice was served by the Trail of Tears? Or by the MOVE bombing? Rainbow Farm?
Justice has always been one sided.

This. My biological father’s wife has a degree, he does not. He works, she does not, because “it isn’t a woman’s place to earn more than the man”.

I think you might be overestimating how good internet access is in rural areas. My grandparents still had dialup in the 2010s and after were only able to get a 2mbps DSL line that never ran at its rated speed. Satellite internet was then and, even with Starlink, is still very expensive, especially for people on a fixed income. This was also in an area with patchy at best cell reception that only got worse as 4G was being rolled out. Even FM signals were patchy at the house and TV reception tanked after the digital switchover. (This is also why you may have heard about some people fighting to keep AM radio around.)
My grandma’s main connection to the outside world was NPR on the way to work and the state PBS station that was rebroadcast from a somewhat close small college town.

This reminds me of when the Beatles pissed people off and people smashed their Beatles records and then the Beatles weren’t popular anymore…
Then again they didn’t double down on being more popular than Jesus so I guess we shall see.
You didn’t even need the trailer. The teaser poster was cooler than the whole movie. 9 year old me was fucking stoked just seeing this:
