Republicans regularly crash the economy. Then they get to bailouts (and select the winners or losers for that), and buy up assets cheap. The way the population has been convinced, against all evidence, that republicans are better economically and fiscally is a triumph of their propaganda.

They’ve already fucked up real estate and neighborhoods all over, which was good enough reason for me. Plus their system and the way everything works now is absurd. Anyway some corporatist rich fucker working with others like him to harm people? Of course. That’s what they do.

There’s something ongoing, though. If Trump didn’t think he needed him still, or didn’t have some reason he’s forced to keep him around, he’d just tell Musk to fuck off. Same as how he fires appointees, doesn’t follow through on other contracts and stiffs people on bills.

I’m surprised Zuckerberg is more disliked than Elron. Though Zucker has done some weird shit lately taking Facebook culture right wing, he’s been way less of a public pain in the ass than Musk. He’s been widely known as a dislikable figure for longer though.

I recall how in 2015 many in the Republican establishment were actually opposed to Trump getting into power. Then, they suddenly flipped and started saying he was the best ever, and have since then. It seems they got here on fear of Trump and his fervent fans and after enabling him for years, they end up… in fear of Trump and his fans.

Current circumstances do seem worrisome. But, we’ve been threatened with that for all my life, and even decades before I was born. So who knows. MAD is a certain thing and I don’t think entire countries are unstable enough to let that happen. I’m not really sure what Putin is getting at threatening all of Europe. The situation with China and Taiwan doesn’t look good, with the US pledge of taking Taiwan’s side for independence.

Worth noting that Elron claimed in 2016 they’d have this tech ready to drive a car across the entire country by the next year.

Things the type of thing he has done for years to pump up Tesla’s stock price. It’s been over 8 years since he said that. The system doesn’t seem technologically ready to drive 4 blocks down a street unmonitored, much less 3000 miles. I’m sure “doge” will recommend removing the regulatory hurdles though.

I don’t have to agree to anything, but okay. You could come up with some reasons why you feel that death threats, slurs and insults are less hateful.

It’s also notable that the “fuck you libtard” type of response is far more common than the “you love genocide”. A small handful of leftists act like that. Much more common is moderate left/US liberal people who politely engage in conversation. You can see that all over Lemmy and Reddit. Meanwhile, try going to Reddit’s /r conservative and criticize Trump, or even just repeat things he’s said that make him look bad. You’ll get insulted and banned quickly.

US liberals look down on certain groups for features they could change - being sexist, ignorant, violent, you know, typical hardcore Trump supporters. Hardcore Trump supporters look down on people for things they can’t change - being non-white, poor, or a woman.

I mean, just read the posts on /r/conservative or /r/conspiracy. Check out the racism and hatred of women, the poor and immigrants among those communities. Saying US liberals are hateful compared to MAGA people is perhaps one of the most absurd things anyone has ever told me.

Conservatives have also in my experience been way more likely to say mildly veiled death threats, if that means anything to you.

At least the “guess you love genocide” is an attempt to persuade you about a political topic. It has absolutely nothing to do with “want you to hate yourself”. The “libtard” shit is precisely the topic here - just plain hate.

The insults I get from right wingers tend to be things like “fuck you libtard pussy” while the worst from leftists is something like “I guess you love genocide”.

The claim that there’s so much hate and vitriol on the left and not among MAGA people is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. That’s not even remotely close to my experience on platforms like Twitter and reddit.
